I see a thread talking about performance differences. Are there frame and suspension differences between these three models? Would it take more than changing plastic, handlebars and headlights to convert or nearly convert one to the other?

There are significant differences in the bikes.. start with tanks: The RT has a large hidden tank under the plastic exterior. The R has an exposed metal tank, the RS has a fibre-plastic tank that panels bolt into. Suspension components are different due to the differing weights of the bikes, and I believe the rear subframe on the three bikes is entirely different. The wiring harnesses are also completely different (different lights, locations and controls.) The front triple-tree and bar assemblies are completely different, as are headlight type/mounting/etc.
I don't think you can reasonably convert one to the other without considerable expense and work. The engines are very close to identical, as are the transmission and driveline (except for rear-axle ratios..)

Don's right. Swapping them from one to the other is a lot more than different bodywork.
I believe they even carry their fuse panels in different locations.
