This may not be the right forum, but it seems LD riders would ride oil or hex heads; I'm an oiler.
I plan to do a SS on the way to Gillette on Sunday July 13. Any MOA/IBA member willing to witness and give me some local info?
PM or swauger@ee.net
Thanks in advance

Rick: The witness requirements for a SS1K are fairly liberal. Your spouse, a friend, or neighbor can sign you out to start. The following it the exact wording from the IBA website.
"In order to document your ride, the Iron Butt Association requires that obtain an eyewitness to document the start of your ride. Witnesses for the basic SaddleSore 1000 and Bun Burner 1500 may be a friend (but not one on the ride with you), spouse or even gas station attendant willing to answer a letter from the IBA about your start or end time."
Hope this helps, See you in WY!

nyfty,
Thanks for the info. I had read that, but was told finding a member to witness was ironclad. Must only be for the longer rides. I'll stick to written guidelines.
After more thought, I decided to do and out and back in April or May before the humidity hits, and to not have my bike fully loaded for camping.
Does IBA have an area or booth set up like the airhead guys did at the RA?
see you there,

Something you might consider for 'signing off' on your SS paperwork at BOTH ends of the ride are law enforcement officers.
I plan to SS from WI to CO in July to see my daughter (Castle Rock), and will have an officer sign off on my end, and then no matter what time I roll into town, I'll just swing by the local PD (on Plum Creek Parkway) and get the finishing signature.
Good Luck!

You might also want to check the IBA site as there used to be a list of witnesses, or post on the LD Rider list.
Remember to ride with your head not over it. Better to stop today and ride again tomorrow.

I am an IBA member in Canon City which is south of Denver, west of Pueblo and SW of Colorado Springs. It would be no problem to drive and meet you in an around the area. Just give me a couple of days notice and when your ETA is and I would be there .
