I am one who usually always needs this service booth and have utilized it for my bikes and volunteered at the booth on several occasions. Bill Ewert is the rally chair and lives quite a distance away(Wisconsin), as I do(Calif.) and I thought some useful ideas may help some in need of such. The Oil Change Booth has always been self serve, with advice and helpful hands, with some tools and cleanup service provided. Thats about it! Simple:). Well, some helpful tips from me, as a regular user of the booth in past years; You come far and need a oil change. Be prepared to turn your own wrenches, or "maybe" even a few tools provided at the booth. Leaving home, with a fresh oil and filter change will keep most within a reasonable mileage for changing, as Gillette is central to N.America in general. A simple oil only change will simplify things greatly, for those who go 6000 on filters, with 3000 oil only changes. BMW actually suggests this with many recent year models. Bring(Pack) your own filter and filter wrench, if needed and most oils can be bought locally, through merchants(Auto Stores, WalMart, etcetc), etcetc. Do not count on BMW Dealers, etc bringing oil to a National Rally, as this has been on and off through the years. It may be there, may not! Its a great booth for chatting, learning your bikes oil change proceedure and just keeping the bike happy far from home. Don't hesitate doing the job yourself and we can always find help for you in a pinch, if needed. I will be there, doing my volunteerism thing again and no doubt, changing my oil in my newfound GSA1200. Happy Trails, Randy13233...PS; Any good ideas from some local Gillette folks would be nice, too. Any Beemer riders nearby enough to Gillette to hookup some oil disposal service, tanks, barrells, pans and/or other supplies at really, really good prices would be helpful:). Simple ideas work, like cardboard from an appliance store may be one, for drop cardboard, under bikes. Carpet throw aways, within reasonable cleanliness for lying on, doing the oil change deed. Best wishes to all and be there for some good times:), Randy:usa:usa :usa

We already have people working on oil disposal, ...well ... I'm working on it. I already have located the facility to recycle the oil and made arrangements. That piece of the puzzle is complete. As to the rest of the materials list, I'm certain the oil change chair's will have it under control. From Bill's effots last year, BMWMOA has some of the materials you list. Thanks for the input and suggestions. I'll follow up as necessary. :bikes

I am always pleased to find this booth open for business, as I am one who rides far to rallies:). I made contact with Bill also and he is at a far place from Gilette as I and help locally, or afar is great. I will work some time at the booth and hope its a helpful, active place for those in need like me:). Thanks for everything, Randy Owens12333:thumb

With a bit of luck you may find a garage that heats with disposed oil. Such facilities are happy to take the oil free of disposal fees. The garage that changes my car's oil is happy to take oil from lawnmowers, garden tractors and motorcycles.

I'm not sure what numbers a rally like our National event, brings into the "Oil Change" booth, but I would figure its not a huge amount of oil needing serviced. Either way, a disposal is needed and the local folks have a handle on this, I'm hoping or we'll "get r done":) Randy13233:thumb
