Just a crazy question.I own a BMW1150GS (2003).I tend to ride it like a dirt bike on the road (wheelies, close to red line most of the time). Was just wondering if the bike can take it.I do all the scheduled maintenance. The bike has 2800 miles on it.I think i should buy a honda xr 650 enduro and also keep my 1150 gs.I recently raced a harley v-rod he got me at the beginning but after a 1/4 mile we were neck and neck.

The 1150GS is BMW's best touring bike. It isn't a complete bike like the LT, RT, or CL, so you can personalize it to fit your particular needs. That gives it a lot of utility value. You can ride your GS to work, go sport riding on the weekends, ride two up to Spokane with a ton of gear, or win the Iron Butt on it. The GS is a naked bike so it is faster and easier to do maintenance on the engine, the tires get the best tire mileage of the oilheads. This explains why a lot of GS owners have another GS for a second bike.

If you abuse a BMW, it will teach you how to ride it.

GS roughly translates into secondary or built up roads. Part of the reason why it is BMW's best seller world wide.

Get the dirt bike, I'd go with a 400 over 650 more fun and easier to pickup:bliss :bliss :bliss :bliss :bliss :bliss :bliss :bliss :bliss
