I am looking to add some zydeco music to my spin classes.

Each song should be at least 4 minutes, and have a fast pace (120-140 bpm).

Feel free to suggest a specific song or two. Or please suggest a group (s) that would fit the bill.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hopefully, this project will be the "Big Easy".

I've always been a huge fan of the Neville Brothers. I think they'd qualify. . . .

Check out Fiyo on the Bayou.

of Zydeco is Clifton Chenier, I think Alligator records still has one in print. His son, C.J. Chenier is worth a listen too. My favorite Buckwheat Zydeco record is "Turning Point". Also, though not strictly zydeco, Sonny Landreth is worth a listen, and like Tom Moran, I'm a big fan of the Neville Brothers. Jumpin' Johnny Sansone is well worth hunting down, I believe that he has a couple of CDs on the Bull'sEye Blues label. Hope this helped.

I'm by no means any expert on this, but I thought Beausoleil, the Neville Brothers, etc. played the genre called "Cajun" whereas Clifton Chenier, CJ Chenier, Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas, etc. played the genre called "Zydeco."

Any true Cajun/Zydeco experts out there who can shed some light?

Awesome group but as someone else mentioned, not strictly Zydeco.

Quick Cajun Music joke...

What is the definition of perfect pitch?

When you hit the dumpster with the accordian on the first try.

They consider themselves to be both.

I also like these guys and have seen them a few times: http://genodelafose.net/

An accordion player has a couple too many drinks on the gig, and doesn't bother to unload his car when he gets home. Sure enough, when he wakes up he finds his car has been broken into...and there are 3 more accordions in the backseat!

How many guitarists to change a light bulb?

19, one to change the bulb and 18 to say 'I can do that".

Sorry about the hijack, I'll try to be good now.

What's the difference between a guitar player and a large pizza?
A large pizza can feed a family of four.

I'm not the least bit sorry about the hijack, go ahead and ban me, I dare ya! Who cares about the difference between Cajun and Zydeco anyways? Not the musicians!

I'm not an expert by nay means. I've only lived down here 5 years but I've never heard anyone down here talk about Cajun music, except for the tourist spots. Zydeco, sure. I like a local guy name David Dopsie, think he goes by "the Rockin Dopsie". I'm guessing if they don't play a washboard then it would be hard to call them real Zydeco.

an expert by no stretch of the imagination, I would venture to say that Cajun leans much more toward an Acadian/French music form while Zydeco has introduced a West African music form. The latter melding with the former moreso than the other way around. BTW, speaking of Dopsey family, we had the wonderful opportunity to watch Dwayne Dopsey perform a couple of years ago. His accordian says MERCY down the front. What a night on Bourbon St, that was for us! -Bob
