I'm installing an Autoswitch on my 04 R-1150-RT and the instructions look pretty straight forward. My only question is, to anyone who has already installed one is where did you install the LED light. The instructions where not to specific. Thanks for any thoughts in advance.

On my wife's R1150R Rockster, there's not much of a dash. So when I installed the Autoswitch I just zip-tied the LED underneath the speedo. If I were to install one in my R-RS, I think I'd go to Radio Shack for one of these (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062558&cp=2032058.2032233.2032297&parentPage=family). Then just drill a 1/4" hole in the right side inner fairing panel for it, right about where the RID would be (if I had one!) You should be able to find a similar spot on your RT.

On my 2000rt I installed it next to the RID. In hindsight that was a mistake since it puts it at a slight angle. LEDs are very directional. With mine at an angle it's really hard to see during the day. Where ever you mount it make sure it's pointing at your head/face so it's visible at all hours. I drilled a hole a couple of thou. undersized, pushed it into place and mushed a bit of silicon glue onto the back to help hold it in place. Worked so well that now I'm stuck with it where it is. At least until I get my act together to move it and plug the hole!

Its location and much more is all explained right here...

Your model has far more possibilities. I just chose to drill a hole in something that is easily and cheaply replaced if I changed my mind with respect to its location.
