I don't understand:

- references to the six cylinder head bolts that one is to tighten (e.g., before setting valve clearances) in a nice star-shaped pattern. I have TWO (2).

- references to the four transmission-to-engine bolts that one removes in order to slide the tranny back for a clutch spline lube. I have EIGHT (8).

What am i missing?!!?

Also, is it just me, or is it impossible to remove the air box without either removing the right-hand stud or the battery box (not just battery)? On mine, the airbox hits the battery box as it slides backward, with contact made before it will clear the stud. The stud, of course, prevents lifting the airbox to clear the battery box! I'm thinking of replacing the stud with a bolt....

I believe the 4 holding down the rocker arms (2 on each side) are also included in that head bolt count. Good luck.

I can't see where there are 8 bolts holding the tranny to the engine. I used this site to help me with my recent /7 spline lube...it says there are only four bolts. And that's how many I had...

Is it possible you're looking at a bolt which holds something to the tranny but doesn't really hold the tranny to the engine??

I think I was looking in the wrong place altogether! I got it now. Thanks! - Brian
