I'm going to the Rally and I've heard there's some great flyfishing in the area. Any recommendations? I've never traveled on my bike with flyfishing gear...may need to ship it ahead of me?:scratch

Do you have 4-piece rods with good tubes? Get some good hip-waders (boot-foot prob.) and you should be set, unless you want to take the tying stuff...

Don't do the tying stuff, and I've got the lightweight waders, small box for minor fishing tools, flies, yadayada. I don't have the 4-piece rod, but that might could be arranged....if I buy something for my wife.:laugh

An earlier thread has some info on it. There was some interest by members.
You might want to check it out. A 4 piece rod rides well. Check sites for local fly shops for info.

Found book at local library titled, Wyoming Blue-Ribbon Fly Fishing Guide by
Greg Thomas. Browsing it looks like good information on not just the most publicized streams but also tributaries. Good pattern info too.

Thanks for the info RIK... I checked out the earlier thread and found some good info... Maybe we can find enough interest to schedule an outing as rally time draws closer...

Saw some pictures of someone flyfishing a stream along the Beartooth Hwy. Looks like a great cycling road.

I think you would like the Big Horn Mountains. There is a fantastic trout stream that US-14A follows west of Burgess Junction.

Go to 08 Rally Roads! page 4 message #59 to download "Gillette WY Rides.gpx" file for GPS waypoints and routes.
