I have called about 7 motels in Gillette and been unsuccessful in locating a room. Any ideas? I would really like to come to the rally but am past the camping stage of my life!

Thanks in advance.

try the KOA campsite at Devils tower and see if they have any cabins available. it's only about 50 miles from Gillette

here is the link: http://www.koa.com/where/wy/50145/

I stayed at that KOA and it was a nice place to stay with clean showers etc. Plus they play 'Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind' on an outdoor screen...:lurk
The view I had from my tent on DT,was great when the sunrise would hit the monolith in the early AM, bathing it in an orange glow. Worth staying at IMHO.

i will be staying there prior to riding into gillette, but i will be in my tent instead of a cabin. nice to know the showers are clean and the view is good.

There also seems to be the possibility of renting a trailer on site thru private arrangements, see the rally info page on the home page of this site.

Many thanks to all. I made a reservation in Buffalo at the Best Western which has a restaurant on site and is (reportedly) only about 65 miles from the rally hq.

Looking forward as this will be my first MOA rally since the one in Missoula in what, 1998?

After calling all hotels listed in rally info I found out all blocked rooms are sold out. Best Western has rooms starting at $239.00 and up and Howard Johnsons has rooms at $199.99and up. You will no longer get blocked prices in Gillete. Its drive from another city back and forth or "pay the price". Camille and I opted to 'pay the gouged prices" as we want to take advantage of the Bier Garden and not have to drive. Hope this helps! We are also way passed the age for camping.

I decided to forgo the bier garten and stay Buffalo. The best Western has a restaurant and the AAA price is $113 + tax. It's a little more than an hour's leisure drive.

If I recall correctly, that's 68 miles without gas or services. A guy who neglects to fuel up in Buffalo could coast into Gilette on fumes. DAMHIK.

I had originally locked in at some like 225/night, but they did tell me that new rates are coming. Late last year I had called and they gave me 90/night at Best Western in Gillette. This reflected new rates. I count my lucky starts. :dance

I would recheck my reservation and confirmation number if you think you still have a $90.00 room. Things are a changin by the minute. I hope you are OK. Make sure you are booked in Gillette. :usa

I hope that's correct. Just talked to the BW in Gillette, and she told me she had no rooms inside or outside our block.

FWIW- there's a Fairfield being built and we have a block there. The block rate is $169.00. They can't take reservations yet, because it will be 4 more weeks until the computers are functional, but they are taking names and putting them on a list. 307-686-2210 (Nicole) That is also the # for the BW.

Karol,

I had made reservations rather quite early in the stage with a credit card.

Thats why I now own a RT...My R1100S would never make it to Buffalo and back ;-) RT gets twice the mileage!
