After my 30,000 mile service, my 'wrench tells me my tranny oil and final drive oil were discolored (said they were both "coffee" in color).
The tranny fluid was also replaced at 24,000 miles.
What is the recommended fluid change interval for tranny oil for a R1150RT? What could cause premature degradation of the tranny oil?
He recommends checking the tranny and final drive oil every 6,000 miles to monitor the situation. What potential situations might we be monitoring?

Water in the oil.

When the tranny oil in my 1999Rt went chocolate brown we found out that it was a bearing on the main shaft going bad. The grease from inside the bearing turned the oil brown. I rode it another 600miles and the tranny was fixed before the bearing failed.

+1, my oil was a definite two tone (brown with silver streaks) when the transmission bearing was failing. The oil in the FD hasn't been an issue.......yet. I would think the tech could give you more to go on, like it appears to be water, metallic particles, etc. Perhaps you can contact him to get more info? If you really want to be sure, you can pull the large inspection plug from the bottom of the transmission and see what is sticking to the magnet. When mine went bad, that magnet had a quite a sculpture of metal particles.
I'll hope that it is nothing, in your case.
