Does anyone how I can check my timing without going to the dealer??? On the Motronic 2.2 I've read you can rotate the HES until the fuel pump starts. I also own a GS-911. Can the gs-911 be used to check timing???

Thanks List

why do you suspect it might be off?

Because about 2 years ago I bumped the adjustment in an effort to stop pinging under load. I have one of the 1150 engines that used oil. Out of the store and up to maybe 35k miles it would use a quart in 500 to 1k miles depending on rpm. When I picked up the bike it was using a quart in 200 - 500 miles. Today it has finally started getting better @53k miles(1qrt at around 2.5k miles). A couple of the people I talked to said they doubted it was due to carbon buildup. The dealer said some engines do it some don't. The dealer told me to take it to Red Line to get the rings to seat. Adjusting the timing was just one of the things I tried to fix the pinging. I no longer have the pinging but, I think it is due to other things I tried and time. I just want to check the timing and see if I'm off. The setting I have now works with no pnging but, maybe the engine could run a little better. I run my engine in the 3.5k to 5.5k rom range and cruise around 4.3k to 4.7k rpm. My engine is now very smooth up to 4.5krpm and developes some vibration at 4.5k to 4.7k and then becomes smooth again.

That's why

Same with 2.4. Look on ADVRider 'Wisdom' section for the description.

Nope.

It does not get any easier than this - works great!
