hi,
I am gong to install a radio on a 1150rt for a friend. The rt is "radio ready?" and I will be installing a stock radio, remote control, and remote indicator. Any tips would be apreciated as I have only worked on GS's to this point. I have never removed the fairing etc on an RT.
Thanks

Take a look at:
http://bmwsporttouring.com/faq.html
There is quite a bit of useful information there. I'm currently installing an aftermarket radio in my 96 R1100RT. It's not difficult to remove the plastic or radio box. If you are installing a BMW radio, then it should be plug and play and no wiring modifications. Should just take a couple of hours before you have tunes.

This is from an earlier post installing a radio on an 1150RT. I did it and so have others. Look for guidance from SNAFU.
"I have a 2002 1150RT, and I installed a Clarion radio model DB325 AM/FM/CD. The radio fits well but tight with the wiring. I used a BMW to Clarion transition plug-in wiring from Circuit City. I think it was for a BMW roadster. I also had many help with wonderful pictures from SNAFU at http://www.snafu.org/pics/r1150rt/radio/. I used fiber optic cable from the remote control, which I mounted on the left handle bar. Hope this helps."
