I was looking at the Backoff brake light modulator as I had used it before, and saw a warning that the current module would cause the dash brake light warning light to always be on. I'm not too found of that idea so thought I'd ask what brake light modulator most other people were using/recommend.
I did do a search, but didn't find anything on non-led modulators.

I am happy with the Kissan brake light modulator on my R110R; no issues. Check their website.

HyperLites here. They rock.
Note: I am not familiar with "R" bikes but...
on my "K" bikes Kisan has a list of which models of Tail Blazers was recommened for the different model of bikes. On my 85 K the brake warning light in the dash pulses with tail blazer. I find this to be i nice feature since it tells me that the blazer is functioning. On the 02 LT I have no problems either.

I had Hyper-Lites on my '92 K75 and they were great - installation couldn't have been easier, and I enjoyed waking my neighbors up with the bright red strobe lights first thing in the morning ;)

I've seen the Kisan products online, but have never used them. I did see the trailblazer, but am not sure I would like it. From what I recall, it only has a single flash cycle then is steady on. I much prefer a flash, steady, flash cycle like the BackOff modulator. It repeats so long as the brake is engaged.
I also saw the hyper lights and might add them, but still prefer a modulating rear light. Bright is good though!
Are there any bright LED replacements for the rear light assembly? I saw some for the GS line, but not the RT line. Of course I used Google to search for them and might have missed soemthing you all have known about for years. :)
BTW: A little more reasearch into the BackOff problem turned up a note that I need a version with high impedence. I'm going to check with the manufacturer or reseller to see if there is a BMW specific version.

Hi, all. I use a Brake! led flashing brake tailight which I am very happy with. I have seen messages here about problems contacting them.
I live in Victoria, and was in their shop today. The owner advised me they have been moving, there are issues with the phone service, but they are still going and hope to have everything set up and working properly to get to orders within a month. So FWIW that is the latest on them.
Oh one other note. While there I asked if the unit could trip the ABS fault on my 02 R1150RT. The owner said they had reprots of this but had come up with a fix. He gave me the small unit that is the fix. It looks like a resistor between two wires. Apparently it will increase the draw from the unit enough to prevent further false ABS error readings. I have not installed it so I have no information on how it works.

I've had the Hyperlites on my 94 R1100RS for many years and I feel they do add a lot of visibility to the bike in traffic. But I may add a timer circuit to turn the flashing lights on constantly after maybe five seconds. I think the constant flashing may be too much.
But, be aware that in many states, any rear facing, red colored, constantly flashing lights are illegal, as they are in Wisconsin. Check your local and state laws or check wth a State Patrol officer to find out if they are legal in your state.
I was once stopped for a burned out headlight. The county sherrif asked me to operate my brake lights to see them flash. I did. He said they were great, very obvious, attention getting, and illegal. Yet,..he did not ticket me. But he warned me any officer could stop me for those lights if he/she wanted too. That was over eight years ago and no officer has stopped me since.

John,
Would you care to leave a web address about the product or some type of contact information so I can see what you are talking about?

I just added some P3Lights.com to my F650. These things are OH MY GOD bright.
They add 12 LED's to each side of your license plate. In tail light mode the LED's flicker to add visibility. In brake light mode they modulate 4 times rapidly and then 4 times slowly before going to solid brake light. If you don't like any of those things its easy to program them out. You just turn the key on and then within 5 seconds flash the brake a certain number of times to reprogram them. The kit even comes with a business card that has the programming modes on the back of it.
Even though they aren't cheap I am really impressed with them. I am ordering another set for my K1100. :thumb
Oh and the connectors he sends with the kit are top quality electrical connectors. The connectors that hook the LED's to the control module have silicone in them. You squeeze down the connector and it squeezes silicone out to seal the connections. I may just be slow but I had never seen these before.

Hi Arthur. The website is: www.gizmomill.com but I don't think you will have any success with it. I know the 800 phone number does nto work as the owner told me there are problems with whose name the number is registered to. Overall I would wait awhile and see if this company gets back on their feet.
As for the product it is an LED that simply replaces the taillight bulb. It is programable to a couple of different modes, but essentially it flashes for a few seconds when the brakes are applied and then goes solid. It was about a 5 minute install on my RT.

A vote here for Kissan - have them on all of my bikes with good comments from those riding behind me (which isn't very often as slow as I ride!)
Anyone seen (or deployed) the one that supposedly comes from BMW Motorrad? I've seen it on a couple dealer's websites. From the description it just doesn't sound like it's really from BMW....

Just an FYI, but I decided to buy the Back-Off XP. According to the manufacturer, it does not have the problem with the warning light on the dash, plus it can modulate standard bulbs and LED bulbs. All for about $35.

Link (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35698&page=2&pp=15&highlight=petdoc) has picture of the BMW lic. plate LED on my GS. It flashes 4 times quickly when first activated and then remains on. I have since added 40 LED light from Motorrad Electrik in tail light and Kisan Signal Minder so I run with blinker lights on as well ( you can change intensity or shut off on the fly).
