Hi, I am going to be moving from the US to Canada (Nova Scotia) later this year and want to take my 07 1200GSA with me.

I have spoken with Canada BMW and checked out the Canadian Transport Government site that explains I have to take my bike to a Canadian BMW dealer for an inspection to get a certificate stating that my bike conforms and that I can get it reigistered / inspected in Canada.

Does anyone know if the carbon cannisters are fitted to Canadian bikes? (I have removed mine - I come from the UK and non of the bikes there have them, or anywhere else in Europe, in fact I understand that it is only fitted for the Californinan market

Also, has anyone imported a bike into Canada from the US?? Could you share your experience?

Many thanks, Jon

No carbon canisters on Canadian models.

I haven't imported a bike ito Canada before, but looked into it last year when I was looking for my F650GS. Its not terribly difficult to do. If you go to our governments web site, it has all the info you should need.

This link should get you started.

My Moto Guzzi just went to Canada on Monday. Basically you need to check Canada's approved motorcycle list and also have a letter from the manufacturer that there were no recalls on your serial number. If it has the plate indicating that it meets US emissions standards then you should be fine.
