View Full Version : Water in Headlight unit

I noticed as I was giving my 07 GSA a good clean yesterday that there was water behind the headlight lens. I used a garden hose and not a pressure washer.

Has anyone else had this problem? The bike is just coming up to two months old, so this could potentially be repaired under warranty. Should I attempt a repair myself (has anyone done this)? '

This doesn't look good for long term wet weather riding, so I want to get it fixed sooner rather than later.

Any words of wisdom?

If you, or your dealer have ever changed a bulb it could very well be that the cap wasn't put back on correctly. It is possible to get it to stay on, but be crooked and leak.

Other than that, this is a unique issue to me.

Agreed - except I would have said "If you, or your dealer or the guy at the factory ever installed a bulb ....."

And, but, spraying a hose in and around the backside of the bulb wiring is a bit strange of a place to be spraying ??

Good points!

I have sprayed the instruments many times during washing, so it is not that unusual, especially for a GS!

Thanks guys. The bike was new and I haven't touched the bulbs. The dealer may have done so at the 600 mile service, but I can't think why. I wasn't all that careful when I sprayed the bike over before washing. It was a garden hose spray and I'd hope it would stand up to that?

Not sure what a real rain storm would bring? Not that it rains too often here ;)

Perhaps it will be my first warranty claim after all. Only 2k on the clock so far, I hope this is not an omen.
