Having recently ridden a Honda VFR 800 (and liking it a lot), I am curious how the BMW 800 compares. Has anyone spent serious saddle time on both? My interest is not in track bike specs, but real world function

You might ask Dave Swider, our president. he owns a VFR, I believe and also had the F800ST for an extended test ride.

I've never ridden a VFR before, but 'Bike' magazine out of the UK did a VFR / F800 comparison test last year. They allowed as how they thought the VFR was the best bike ever, before the test. The F800 stomped the VFR in the comparison, and the F800 was crowned the new king.

FWIW, my F800ST is my 7th BMW and about 15th bike, and it is absolutely the best bike I've owned.

This thread appeared when Cycle World did their comparison. They gave the VFR the nod but just by a little.
