Wonderings:

I started telecommuting before it was called that. In those days it was just working from home. When my daughters first realized that I was working from home it was fascinating to them. They were 6 and 3. I had recently become their step-father and adopted them. I was a novelty in their life for many reasons, not the least of which was having this man working from home all day when they really had no experience with a man around the house at all.

Giggling, they would sneak into my office and ask. “What-cha doing?”

New fathers are REALLY DUMB. I would tell them in great detail what I was doing, flattered that they asked and not yet understanding that it was a ploy to play. They would crawl up on my desk and play with the things on it as I talked.

“What’s that mean?” they would finally ask when they saw I wasn’t playing like I should and what was going on was finally dawning on me.

“It’s a new recipe for liver and I am going to cook it tonight for dinner!”

“Yuuuuccckkkk!!!” they would scream as they scrambled off the desk and out of the room.
“I’m eating at Chrissies tonight’ the oldest would shout and the youngest would chime in “Me too!” as she chased after her sister.

This Monday morning I would like to be a little kid and walk into a certain office, probably someplace in Germany.

‘What-cha doing” I would ask as I slipped into a chair next to the desk.

‘I’m working on the BMW Project 20XX motorrad. It is the next generation of technology that will take BMW into the motorrad future.’

‘What’s that?’

‘A new recipe for live.’

‘Cool!’
