Wifey issued orders to do something about the seating on her 1100R or to sell it.

She is petite with short legs and arms and after an hour in the saddle she is not happy.

Selling it is not an option.

So questions:
Foot peg lowering, how does that effect the brake? Seems it would require lifting your foot off the peg to get on top of the brake pad. The gearshift has a lowering kit too if needed. She always wears her riding boots and thinks the gear shift kit can wait till she evaluates the situation.

Barbacks: I only can find a bar riser, she wants one that raises the bars AND brings them back. I am worried about cable length, if you can even buy something that is higher and further back.

I know the windscreen upper mounts will have to be remade, not a problem.

Hey mon...............nooo problem.....relax........be happy.
I did what you want to do to an '02 R1150R.

For footpeg kits and shift lever extenders, look at West Suburban Machinery. Your wife will need both or she will find her left foot trying to shift at unnatural angles.

The footpeg kits will move the foot down and slightly out. Therefore a person with petite feet may want toe lever control extensions both for the shift lever and brake lever. Wunderlich has them, so do other places.

Note: I had to shorten the shift lever linkage bolt about a quarter of an inch with a dremel to accommodate the slightly different angle.

Bar backs/risers- look at West Suburban or Moto-Techniques. During installation cut the plastic ties that hold wires and cables to the handlebars. There is about an inch and one quarter of play (+ or-) , or slack, in the cables. Pull the cables slowly to get at the slack. Reinstall new cable ties to your satisfaction.

If you know what you are doing, these changes will take about an hour total.
If you get ambushed, like I did trying to figure out why the the
shift lever linkage bolt is not lining up, then it will be longer. But at least you will not have a master mechanic looking over your shoulder (laughing his a*s off) as one is learning how to become a DIY'er.

I put the Moto Techniques bar risers on my 99 R1100R and they were the right fit for me (http://www.moto-techniques.com/513057_risers.htm). The stock cables/brake lines were long enough to allow the approximately 1 inch that the risers moved the bars. I think the ultimate would be their Tubular bar adapter kit (http://www.moto-techniques.com/513046.htm) but I tried the cheaper solution first. The tubular bar kit would allow you to try different 22mm handle bars until you find the right fit.

When I replaced the shocks I ordered Wilbers shocks with the variable ride height adjusters and lowered the bike enough that I could put the seat in the middle or high position raising my but instead of lowering the pegs and find it quite comfortable.

YMMV

Thanks for the info, the Moto Risers are on their way and I'm still looking into the footpeg lowering kit.

When Helen bought her 95 Roadster,it had GS peg assemblies on it. Was lower, but she said the pegs hit her on the ankles when stopping.( she says my RT does the same thing) You can try them out if you like, I have them in a box. Your results may be different. seems like three screws on each plate to install them...and they are close and free to try out! I think it also has the shifter & brake levers as part of unit...have not looked at them in a while

Had I seen this earlier, I also have the risers that were on it, no changes were needed to make work.

I would look at Fastway foot pegs. I put them on my R1150R and the difference is impressive.

In Response the Fastway peg option. How much movement can be achieved with these pegs. Is the repositioning down and forward? I am Currently looking into peg lowering and have been seriously considering the Suburban- machinery offerings.

I'm not sure of the amount of movement but they definately are down and forward. The biggest improvement was the feeling of security in bad weather and standing up while at any speed.

Thanks,
I took a look at the fastway pegs online. I wonder how they would look on my '04 R1150R. You said that you ride a roadster what did you think of them esthetically. Would it be possible to post a pic? and which one did you get F3,F5... Thanks again
