Does anyone know the pin assignment of the radio plug.
Clymer manual is no help
Blue plug with 4 wires
Red /white stripe = always hot with key off or on
Brown = Ground
Blue/black stripe = ??????
Blue/red stripe = ?????
Is one of these is supposed to be hot with the key on?
Troubleshooting is easier if you know what you are looking for.
Radio fuse is good.
Is there a source for the complete wiring diagram without buying the factory service manual?

OK I pulled the radio out of the closet to see if I could id the wires from it. It seem that the plug in question does not go to any plug on the radio. Does anyone know what it goes to? Here is a picture. It is the blue 4 pin. It is located just under the left speaker box

Just a guess. The number wires says it MIGHT be a hook up for a head set if it connects to the radio wiring harness. That is very similar to the connection I put on my bike. Check for voltage with a volt meter. If12 volts is present it might indicate this is an auxillary power hook up. Again just a guess but, I suspect the plug is for a headset.

Oops just noticed u said u had power on one of the wires.
Sorry

U might try pulling fuses to see what circuit it is connected to,,,, lights or radio. From the fuse size u'll know how capacity is left in the circuit.

I have a 2002 1150RT, and I installed a Clarion radio model DB325 AM/FM/CD. The radio fits well but tight with the wiring. I used a BMW to Clarion transition plug-in wiring from Circuit City. I think it was for a BMW roadster. I also had lots of help with wonderful pictures from SNAFU at http://www.snafu.org/pics/r1150rt/radio/. I used fiber optic cable from the remote control, which I mounted on the left handle bar. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure that 4 pin plug is for the radio. I have one like that under the seat. It has a cap on it and I assumed it was for accessories.
My new Haynes manual has the following for the 1150RT radio:
blue/red = RH + Speaker
blue = RH - Speaker
yellow/red = LH + Speaker
yellow/brown = LH - Speaker
brown = ground
red/white = 8 amp fuse (switched radio power is what I use it for)
purple/black = 3 amp fuse (always on radio power is what I use it for)
This is similar to the 1100RT that I am putting a radio in now. These wires were all in the radio/glove compartment area.
I'll look at the wiring diagrams I have and see if I can find a 4 pin connector witht the wiring you have listed. May take me a bit though.

One of those wires, I think it's the purple one, is hot when the key is "unlocked" or "on." If you turn the key to lock the steering it goes cold. I used this wire to drive my Autocomm and GPS.

Found it. It is listed in the Optional Extra Connector/Sockets/heated bar grips area. It is listed as an OE Connector (assuming OE means Optional Equipment):
red/white = + 12 volts
brown = ground
blue/red = no connection
blue = no connection
The "no connection" phrase means the wire has no connection to anything. Perhaps the dealer connects these wires when he add an optional accessory.
