I am in the process of getting my clutch relined and I was wondering what the thickness is of a brand new Clutch Friction Plate for a 1984 R100RS?
The Clymers Manual states the minimum thickness at .177" but not the new thickness.
The friend that gets the friction plates relined has his plate relined up to .312" which is thicker that a stock plate and has great results!

My Haynes manual says the service limit is the same 0.1772 inches. It also reports that the standard thickness for up to 1980 is 0.2264-0.2461 inches and 1981-on as 0.2067-0.2264 inches.

You don't need a clutch already do you Darryl? I thought you only had 440,000 miles on your RS, LOL.

435,500 actually! But only about 250,000 miles on this clutch plate, I had a spline failure early on.

The plate that I am getting relined should be good for a lot more as it is a lot thicker!

I have to try for 1 million on the same bike!
