Did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for...

Would like to lower my R12RT just a bit without changing shocks... stock saddle is in low position, suspension set per manual for one up standard setting

Helen rode it today!...:thumb ..did I say :thumb ?... It just needs to be maybe a 1/2 inch lower for her comfort level. Better than tiptoeing, but not quite near a flat foot which she has on her 1150. We did a 200 mile romp around the Hill Country looking at property , it was weird seeing that bike zipping by me and in the mirror a few times...She REALLY liked it I am afraid! But I was smiling as much as she was...even on the limestone gravel road I detoured us on... :laugh :laugh :laugh

So, my suspension setting experts...what to do?

Why not try the BMW low seat? It's about an inch lower.

That will definitely gain you an inch, but beware that the low seat has very little padding and can be a bit grim on long rides.

Let a little air out of the tires, that should do it:laugh

I have a Corbin out on loan, don't know if it will be any lower, I will see about the low B MW version, the stock seat got bum reviews yesterday for lack of comfort( no pun!:laugh ) .She has a Rick Mayer on her Roadster so she has high expectations. She said she is going to ride it again Saturday anyways...I might have lost another ride:scratch

Funny there gened12 :laugh :laugh :laugh

When I tried your Corbin, it was about an inch higher than my seat. You can try my seat to see if it is lower; prettry sure it is the low BMW seat. Between Paul and Helen, you might just get reduced to driving the truck! :laugh

CheersFord tried that with the Explorer, and when it did not correct the rollover problem, they blamed Firestone.

Buying another RT 'cause your lady stole yours -> $20k

Having a lady that stole your RT -> priceless!

I'm fortunate to have a lady who enjoys being my pillion. She says she will never ride, but I think otherwise. When she does I'll need a second job!

Helen rides pillion...to go for dinner after parking hers...or when we drop a bike off for service:laugh :laugh :laugh she doesn't like not having CONTROL:whistle :laugh

I don't mind her "borrowing" it since one of these days I will be doing the same on her 800GS(another thread!)...and the Adventure is way too tall:evil

I must have a hardass, because compared to previous bikes I've owned (where I did go aftermarket for my seats within the first hundred miles of ownership), I haven't had comfort problems with the low BMW seats for my R1200RT or my F800ST.

I have the low seat on my R12RT. On one stretch riding from San Antonio to Los Angeles, it felt like there was a midget under my seat with a blowtorch. :laugh

This is really a case of "your ass may vary" (YAMV?) - what is comfortable for one person is torture for another. The low seat on my R1200R is fine for me - the first BMW seat I've been comfortable with. Other people may hate it.

YAMV.. if the dealer would allow the OP to borrow a low seat to try (they have them kicking around usually) - it would answer the question of comfort and height.

I swung by the dealer this morning and nabbed a low seat to try...I set it on lowest position and felt like I was sitting on my old Heritage Softail! I thought with less padding it was actually a better ride on the way home...Denise at Lonestar laughed as she said I was not helping myself keep my RT out of Helen's hands:laugh ...
It sure looks way lower with a lot of the rear seat showing like a backrest
