K-RT bars have about a 6" rise. K75C bars have about a 3" rise.

The diameter of either bar will allow it to "fit" - ie fit the clamps - but you will likely get interference with the fairing with the RT bars. The C bars have been used successfully by some folks.

Krs bars will work, most others will not clear inside the fairing.

I have a set of barbacks on my '88 RS with stock handlebars. Moves the riding position to a little more upright, and everything clears (just barely) the inside of the fairing without hitting the tank.

I have installed a set of bar-backs and a set of "S" bars. I am almost upright. I had to lengthen the bolt for the full handlebar cut, so that it does not pinch my fingers and the lever ends fit. It is a close fit, but I have room. I love the set up. I had the same bar-back and "S" bars with my S fairing and must have gotten used to the riding position. My food for thought.... :eat :drink

K75 "S" bars are what you're looking for. Although that was an option, I chose to go with bar-backs and used the stock bars. I didn't need to change any cables or get a longer brake hose. Ambrosia.

I made the switch to K75 S bars last year. I was able to use all the original cables but some of the electrical cables got tight and I had to re-route them. The bars raise me up about 1", which helps. I still got the helmet buffeting so I also added a laminar lip to the windshield and that took care of the problem. You have to leave the "dashboard" off with the new handlebars but after awhile, you get used to the look. There is a little interference with the handlebars and fairing on full lock.
Overall, I'm happy with the change.

hey, Mike, which laminar lip did you use and is it on the stock RS screen? Mine has what I believe is a luftmeister which is slightly taller, but would benefit from a lip.

Sorry don't mean to hijack the bar thread.

fwiw ..on my other R100 which had the full Pichler and needed lower bars, I found the S bars from the airhead series to be quite comfortable ..moreso than the stock RS bars I now have, and they fit inside the fairing easily.

thanx,
g

My 81' has the stock windscreen and I installed part # B1216C Laminar lip. I don't know if it will fit the Luftmeister but maybe the company could tell you. Their phone number is 866-540-5679 toll free.
