High Wind Warning
It's a big one. It's been raining all night and now I can hear the winds.
Weather Alert..
A High Wind Warning remains in effect until 4 PM PST Friday.
South to southeast winds in the 20 to 35 mph range with gusts to
55 mph will increase to 30 to 45 mph with gusts to 60 mph along
the coast and in the valleys tonight. The second... more powerful
system will bring even stronger winds to northern and central
California. Winds in the hills above 1000 feet could possibly gust
to hurricane force... 75 mph on Friday. Winds will decrease Friday
evening.
A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

Already had a brief power outage at about 4am. I guess I better make sure we have some water available if the pump's not running!

I'll be thinking of you guys. We'll just catch the tail-end of the storm down here: forecast for heavy rain in the next 4-5 days. Snow levels down to 3,500 feet on Saturday. Winds out in Mojave approaching 100 mph!
(This weather is why I tried to set an indoor photo theme this week!)

Looks like y'all could be blessed with some 30' waves in a day or two. Good chance they'll hold the Mavericks big wave classic. Definitely would be something to check out, it's the biggest surfable "known" paddle in wave. Best big wave surfers in the world are walking around with pagers in their pockets. When the pager goes off, they have 24 hours to get to Pillar Point near Half Moon Bay. You can monitor this website to see current surf conditions. Definitely some big waves are coming Sat-Monday. Guarantee you'll read about at least 2 "looky-lou's" gettting swept out to sea in the next three days. If you go to Mavericks, bring your binoculars for what's happening out to sea, and your mirrored sunglasses for what's happening on the beach.

Mine are not only shut but buried under 5 feet of snow lol.
A trick for those 75mph winds is to lean a lot...

Surf is blown out and nasty. When we don't get rain for as long as normal here in So Cal, when we do finally get rain all the CraP that builds up in the gutters and storm drains gets washed out to sea and ends up in our surf zone. Pee eww.
Stay out of the water for at least 72 hrs. Looks mostly like "victory at sea" anyway because of the wind and storm.

Got a laugh from this snippet from the surf report
disorganized with steep, bombing closeouts everywhere.
Sounds like my brief time as a business major. LOL
I spent a lot of time in PB!

We had an 83mph wind recorded about a mile from here.
I've never seen wind like that around here and the only time I saw it back east was during hurricanes.
Amazing.

mmmm Internet.
We've had no power since Friday morning. I bought an 8000 watt generator yesterday. I had to go all the way to the East Bay to get it.

Down here in TexSux we just had a very warm weekend- mid 70s- but with a lot of strong wind. Yesterday I found myself taking a gentle left while still leaned to the right. Kind of a weird feeling. Then later I was leaned hard into a right-hander and a strong gust came from the left and almost blew me off the inside of the curve. Still had a great weekend of riding though!

We went for a ride on Saturday in the rain to survey all the damage.

We finally got our power back last night after it went down on Saturday from that storm. Lots of snow! Silverton is still closed down, avalanches have closed the roads in and out of town and it is inaccessable. That was quite a wild storm!

Just got an email snow alert. Eight FEET of snow in the last 48 hours at Heavenly. Sounds Heavenly!
Hope you all make it through the storms at the lower elevations - especially concerned about potential mudslides for you folks.
