It's cold, and I think something to protect my hands from windblast would make my riding days brighter and cheerier.

With the high swept bars that the bike was equipped, what handguard combo might work best to shield my now-frozen fingers?

I haven't done this, so you'll have to check to see if it really works, but I would expect that the hand guards from an R80G/S would work.

you might want to do a hunt for an old set of hippo hands or something of the type. I once had to 90miles to go on an unfaired cb400f at 19 -22 F. used two one gallon milk jugs, my pocket knife and of course duct tape!!(my hands were about the only thing that wasn't frozen)

I just took my New Years day ride on my R-69 with my "Hippo Hands" installed. Wore reg. gloves and I think my hands were warmer than my buddies were with thick winter gloves. The orig. hippo hands were made by Vetter prob. 20-25 yrs ago. They still show up on E-Bay from time to time. If you google "Hippo Hands" there is a new company using that name. Theirs seem to have a nylon type cover, where the Vetters were a very thick vinyl and lined w/a sheepskin type material. I've never tried the newer brand, but they look a little cheesy to me. On the other hand, the vetters look a little strange as well. If I get a chance I'll post a photo. rj
