After the engine warms up, my Oil Check indicator comes on every time I come to a stop. Goes off when I get going again. Oil level is fine. Turn engine off and start up again, this stops happening. Anyone else experience this? Surely a computer/sensor issue of some kind. Will have it checked out at 6K service.

That's exactly how it is supposed to work. Originally, with the '05 models, the OBC oil indicator readout was available whether stopped or moving - but it gave mostly erroneous warnings. A new float and software update was adopted in Jan., '06 to remedy the problem and now the status of the oil level is only displayed when the bike is stopped with the motor running. Once you begin moving, the display cycles to the next OBC reading. Also, when you first start the bike, you should get whatever the prior reading was (possibilities are the checkmark for oil level ok, <!> for low level, and --- for reading not available).

Took my 07 Rt out for a couple hours christmas day. After about an hour and a half the low oil symbol came on and stayed on for about 15 minutes the went off and stayed off. I checked the oil when I got home and the level was in the middle of the sight glass. I guess when the weather is descent on the weekend I'll run out to the dealer and see what they say.

My 05 shows intermittant low oil indicator at about 1/2 on the site glass (after engine off 5 minutes). Once it get to about 1/4 full on the glass, it is on most of the time. I use it as a "begin thinking about oil" indicator. When it comes on steady, I add about 0.4 quart to get it near the top of the sight glass. Now that I have over 20,000k miles on the engine, it uses less oil (about .8 quart in 6000 miles) and I see the indicator less frequently now. When new, it went through a lot of oil, maybe 0.5 quart in 1000 miles.

If you have your oil level indicator chosen prior to taking off, it will revert to that every time you stop and put it in neutral. During riding it will switch to the temperature gauge.

I find that 3 dashed lines come up which means you haven't been idling long enough, the engine is not warmed up, bike isn't level, or you haven't gone through the proper sequence. Occassionally mine will give me a check mark (level is OK). What you don't want to see is something like 2 triangles with a line in the middle.

If you don't want to see the oil level indicator, try leaving your computer on some other function prior to departing.

Your owner's manual can you fill you in on exact details.... I think, never read it!
