I moved this thread so it'd get more visibility. The How Do I forum is really for questions about how to do things on the forum itself (posting pics, etc.)

you might try ultra-fine steel wool. All the usual disclaimers apply:
try it in a small out of the way place, etc. etc.

Go to a marina and purchase vinyl cleaner, preservitive, I use 3M's marine outdoor vinyl cleaner, conditioner and protector. and use a terrycloth towel to rub over entire bag surface, working harder at damaged areas, these products will clean and protect from UV rays also.

:) All I ever needed was Armorall. It's for plastic. The cleaner will remove most anything that might stick and the protectorant will give it a nice shine. Nothing will take out a real scratch, but a nice shine will help hide it. Remember, they are more for FUNCTION than for LOOKS!

I think Honda's pro cleaner rocks! I use it on my whole bike and it works like a charm. No water needed. Of course I am not getting it as muddy as I limit my non paved road usage.
