Hey gang,

I would be interested in any feedback, ggod and bad, on various brands of aftermarket windshileds for the 1200GS, especially the Parabellum.

Thanks

I went with the Givi windshield. It was affordable, I forget just how much, but well under $200. It retains stock adjustability, and gives me good coverage.

For even more wind protection I added BMW Winglets from the GS-A. With the winglets I feel the wind protection is just about as good as the R1200RT.

Parabellum and winglets!

The mounting hardware is kinda "low looks" and adjustability harder than stock, I thought it was better than my GIVI. The MPG went up like the ad said too! about 20 miles per tanK. Not enough wind on a hot summer day though.

I'm 6' 4" and ordered the tallest they made! I love it!

I just installed a Cee Bailey on my GS. I went 4" taller and 3" wider with the light grey tint. It looks very nice and does offer better protection, however it does vibrate a lot more than the stock shield in high winds. I think I need to find an upper brace like the Adventures have to stiffen it up? The price was $199.

I'm liking my Wuderlich Ergo windshield.

FWIW

I found an R1200GS ADV screen set-up with minor damage for sale over at AdvRider (Screen and support bar). Big improvement in wind noise reduction, weather protection. Liked that chiseled ADV look. If I had added the winglets and electronic cruise might still have the bike today. Was still a bit short on the wind noise reduction for my liking.

I had a Parabellum on my F650GS and it was mounted so close to me that I could not stand on the pegs without hitting it if the terrain was at all rough. I don't know if that is at all applicable to an R1200GS.

I have an Aeroflow on my R1200GS and I like it much better. Very well engineered installation and much quieter ride than the stock shield. I ordered one size larger than they suggest for my height but I can still see over it fine and unless there is a seriousl crosswind or turbulence from semi's it protects me very well.

I'd get another Aeroflow in a heartbeat. But only if you want maximum protection.

I had a parabellum on mine (tallest one they make), but I just couldn't get used to it. At certain speeds the wind was obnoxious, while at other speeds it was dead quiet and all I could hear was the engine. I ended up sending it back, and they were very polite about the whole thing. I'd definately do business with them again just based on that, BUT not for that same windshield.

I'm glad this came up again, because I'm thinking about which one to get for this riding season.

I gave up the search last season, put the stock windsheild in the lowest position, and that worked the best for me, windier, but quieter.

I run the stock screen in the summer and a Cee Baileys I think its 2 wider and 3 taller in the colder months.

What really helped for me was the "tobinator" adjuster on the front. The stock screen needs to have the holes on the side mounts "ground round" to allow it to shift and rotate. It really lets you fine tune the screens. Also you can adjust while your out. If its raining you can stand it up; if it gets hot you can put a nice gap at the base and tilt it back to let more air thru. The mounting hardware up front is also much more robust so the vibration is cut down over the stock mounts.

Im thinking of bobbing the stock screen for summer and trails. And possibly adding the GSA winglets for cold.

For me the answer is to be able to adjust and change them quickly. The GS is very versatile and we see big swings in temperature over the season or even in the course of a day.

+1

I really like that combination on my GS. I use the stock screen in summer with the wings on trips, and no screen or wings around the local area when it is really hot.

I PUT AN AEROFLOW, UPPER AND LOWER ON MY 12GS, PLUS THE AEROFLOW SCREENS (TANK FAIRING) AND I HAVE WINGLETS.

I GUESS SOME OF US JUST LIKE A LITTLE LESS WIND THAN OTHERS!

I REALLY LIKE THE QUIET AND I ENJOY NOT GETTING BUFFETED AROUND.

A LOT OF $, BUT I HAD THE SAME SET UP ON MY 1100GS AND I WAS HAPPY WITH IT AND I'M HAPPY WITH IT ON MY 1200.

IT'S WARM ON WARM DAYS, BUT THE OTHER PEOPLE I RIDE WITH, ARE WARM AS WELL. ISN'T A PROBLEM.

ON SUPER HOT DAYS, RIDING TWO TRACKS, I TAKE THE TANK FAIRING OFF. THEY JUST 'POP' OFF.

I'D BUY THEM AGAIN.
