I found this link on the internet.
I have no idea what they have in stock or if they even carry anything for your bike but hey, an email is free, what the heck.
I have been lusting after a big tank for my R100RS for as long as I can remember. Problem is, when one shows up for sale, my wallet runs out of that green stuff.
Good luck. St.

In the 70's and 80's my R90S sported a good sized Heinrich tank handmade in Germany. Don't know if they're still in business.

Check with Joey - http://www.goodspeedcycles.com/Product_pricing.htm
I was at his place less than a week ago and there were probably a dozen of the large tanks on the shelf.

Touratech sells a 43L (11.5 gallon) tank for the R80G/S and the R100GS bikes. I'm not sure if it would fit on a non-GS bike, or not. I'm not familiar if there are frame differences that would not allow this. It's somewhat pricey, though.
Here (http://www.touratech-usa.com/shop/show.lasso?sku=100-0020&-session=touratech:4B061B861db070FFF1xVO3C67D6F) is a link.

The big question is how much is this project worth to you? The Airheads are pretty much inter-changeable with a lot of parts. You can mount the Touratech tank on your bike, by the time it is painted, gas cap, petcocks on it, you are looking at around $1,200.00 Then you will more than likely change your seat and luggage rack from a R to a GS. This might require you to mount the GS rear sub-frame to your bike and you may need to change the exhaust; all that costs a lot of money. By the time you are done with all the changes, it would have been cheaper to buy a GS/PD.
But it is do-able..... My food for thought....:drink :eat
BTW, I was thinking about changing my 86 to a 92 through 95 luggage rack and came up with the same conclusion.
