Any opinions on thois tire, specifically for an R100GSPD?
I'm looking for a mostly touring, sometimes dirt road tire other than the standards like Pirelli ST, Sahara, etc.
Some modern rubber I can cut some canyons with that I can still go down a dirt trail with.
These will be going on my spare set of wheels.
My current skins are Conti TKC's, great for the dirt and general road use.
looking for some contrast...:brad

I have Anakee's on my GSPD. So far I've only had them on for about 3000 miles, mostly pavement, some gravel, and some dirt/sand. They are fine on pavement, at speed, and in the rain. I can ride fairly quick through corners, although not nearly as fast as I can on my R80. Still, I attribute that more to the suspension and fork flex than anything else; the tires always feel very planted and I've never noticed them wanting to "slide" in a turn. I have been able to drag my sidestand (which has a "fat foot" attached, so slightly less impressive) in a turn without losing traction.
They are fine on gravel (though TKC's would probably be better for extended use) and seemed OK off-road. I think they live up to that 80/20 split on/off road. I have a friend who is equally happy with them on his GSPD.

Thanks for the input, I'm going to go for the Anakees regardless of the general consensus over at ADVRider (so far). NOt alot of feedback about this, much about the Tourances.

I actually searched the same place before settling on the Anakee's. I really didn't hear any bad reports about them. There was ONE guy who lowsided in a turn with them, but consensus was he didn't have enough miles on them, and didn't scrub them in (slowing working up to more extreme leans) properly. If you look through some photos on that site you'll be surprised at how many bikes have Anakee's. I actually hear bad things about the tourances on an Airhead, though the oilhead guys seem to like them.

I've used Tourances and Anakees on my F650 Dakar and now on my GSPD, I like the feel of the Anakees...hard to quantify what exactly that means but there it is.
FWIW: Currently running TKCs on my 650, not real happy with them on the street.

I have Anakees on my 650GS and I do not like them a bit. I have a few thousand miles on them and can't wait until they wear out. I find that I have to ride much slower in the twisties because the front tire in particular feels squirrley. That's probably not a very technical term but it's the best way to describe it and as I consider myself a novice, it makes me nervous. After several days of complaining in West Virginia, my husband finally took my bike for a ride and agreed that the traction was different.
Give me back my Tourances!

I'm happy to report I am very pleased with the Anakees.
Outside of my shop havin a real heck of a time getting them to pop on the bead, their performance is afb!
Having had TKC's up until now, I am very impressed with how slick the bike handles on the road, feels like a different bike. I found my basic casual straifing speed up 7-10mph. This might have something to do with the tire diameter, not sure. All in all confidence in tight turns is very much up.
The only thing I noticed at freeway speeds is a new thrum that I can hear. It must be the tread. Oddly enough the TKC's made no such noise.
All that said, I'm am equally impressed with how they handle off road. I did some fire roads of all sorts and they, managed quite well in fact....much better than I thought. They do seem to be a bit more rough riding, maybe stiffer carcasses or something.
Very happy, yes!

I had an R1150GS with Michelin T66 on it from new. Couldnt get 66s when they wore out, so put on Anakees.
No where as good as the T66. less ks, didnt handle as confidently.
The T66 was a better tyre IMHO.
I have a Tourance on the rear of my F650GS, and an Anakee on the front.
Not happy with that either. Front "wonders" a bit.
Airhead GS maybe different.
