I am aware that one of the replies to my thread on another subject may have been rude to many very helpful people answering my questions posted. I am sorry, I should know by now not to let myself get carried away by Email or the internet.

I am getting old before my time and I do not embrace the new technology well. St.

I went back to read the thread mentioned above. Yep, you seem to be a little hot on that reply but hey we all shortout every now and then. And yes this technology, when it dose not work right can be very fustrating indeed. Good job on the rebuild and keep enjoying the ride. :thumb

That's not your fault Steve, and I thought yours was an interesting thread, with one of the posters coming up with the probable answer. A similar situation (i.e. relative engine speed change after a rebuild) occured with another member's bike a while back and there were also a number of replies.

My theory is that whenever you go into a machine and do major work, it's going to disturb any number of things, and all sorts of weird things can happen.

Steve,
I'll have to say it was a pretty good rant, however, there are a couple people who post here that IMO are often gratuitously rude and condescending. That's a universal condition.

It surprises me a bit to see that no one directly takes them to task about it, but if I am not going to then I suppose it shouldn't surprise me.

Don't go away. This forum has an overwhelming majority of good folks.:buds

Hi Steve,

I hadn't seen that thread until I read your posting above. I don't apologize on behalf of rude and/or condescending people but just like in real life, we have rude and condescending people here.

Wish I knew enough to help you but I don't. But I hope you decide to stay on here.

Suffice it to say that such people are masking their own insecurities whether it is an attack on engines rebuilds, politics, beliefs, etc. I get a lot of love letters in my writing job but my job is designed to attract those responses. You innocently asked for help and the outcome was horrible and inexcusable.

If you always say what you mean and mean what you say, never be afraid to post with your own name. Again, I hope you stay on here.

Kindest regards,

Randy Kasal

I didn't read the post you reference, nor am I going to.

But I think the point that is far more interesting to me is that you would offer yourself up as having done something wrong and apologized for it.

There's far too little of that in the world and I commend you for it.

I have a couple threads on advrider where I am in the same situation. I took it out on one guy once, but things are "good" now since I just ignore all the people who 1) didn't read ANYTHING I wrote, 2) didn't have ANY real purpose in replying/messaging me the way they did other than to see their post count go up, etc.

Then again, lately I have been double guessing myself. Do I really write stuff that unclear/ridiculously?

:scratch <---- sums me up pretty well.

Thanks for the notes everyone, I should know by now that BMW motorcycles are a true passion for some people and they take them VERY seriously.

Also, this forum is made up of people, and people are not perfect.

I do believe strongly in not letting someone insult me.

I noticed the persons who gave me the rudest replies did not stick around to offer anymore help.

At the same time, I KNOW I may have offended someone who was being polite and helping me in their best possible way. I can not apologize enough to those good people. St.
