I couldnt leave it be...
At the suggestion of others here I bought the Easternbeaver direct headlight wiring kit.
So today I put it on. Of course I ordered the H4 kit and have H3 bulb(s). Oh well, sit down and think it through and decide to splice into the OEM wiring before it enters the headlight assembly.
Works like a champ! MUCH brighter lights.
But disaster struck.
Parts left over :doh
I could not for the life of me figure out how to get the oil cooler screen back on. Two little ears and nothing to screw into. Nor would I have removed it. I only needed the front fairing off. The screen just dropped off as I move the fairing nose.
And two skinny torx bolts with big shiny washers, could not see where they came from.
Tomorrow
I tead it back apart and take a fresh look.
Anyone have any suggestions on how the oil cooler screen attaches?
