Nobody up here in Michigan can tell us WHERE we can find those 3" metal BMW logos with "2 bolts & nuts on the back" which can be mounted in the two mounting holes below the license plate of an 1150 RT. Do you know where they can be purchased???

This is easy.
First you need to order an emblem holder from BMW of Santa Cruz. You may do so here (http://www.bmwsantacruz.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=BOSCC&Product_Code=4601002). I believe that it is expressly designed for the RT's fender.
You then need to order a rondel emblem, the size of which you need to determine. Examples here. (http://www.bmwsantacruz.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=BOSCC&Product_Code=emblem)
I've had this set-up on my RT, where there were spare holes available for the emblem holder.
When I got my GSA, I mounted it to my rear stabilizer bar. Looks like this:

This is what it looked like on my 1150RT:

I have the MOA sticker in mine (requires minimal trimming), but you can easily substitute a rondel.
Is this what you had in mind?

Those rascals are home made. I got mine from a quad cities vendor at the Twin City BMW rally a couple years ago.

I got mine at a booth at West Bend. Bob's maybe? Check the site.

I got one from a recycling center (junk yard) that was once the hood ornament of a BMW Sedan that did not survive a road incident. It has the prongs on the back. The prongs are held on with push on clips. I think the trunk roundel is about the same.
I mounted mine on the back side of an old motorcycle plate. BUT before I mounted the roundel I covered the plate with reflective tape.
End result - visibility and a touch of class.
