More than half the email I send gets me an Out of Office reply and I've yet to actually raise anybody on the telephone.
So I'm going to pretend I'm working for a while and then get to work making pies after lunch.

My lovely wife Heather, of Pennsylvania Dutch extraction, made pies last night. I'm having a piece of Shoo-fly pie right now.

MMMMMMMMMM, pie! (Veg drools all over keyboard)
I'm not at work either. The only work I had scheduled for today was a job in the evening, doing several services at a client-hospital. That's all been postponed until Monday.
So once I get done mucking about the forum, I'm gonna go run errands then load the car and perform that ancient naval maneuver.

I think we've got pecan chocolate bourbon, apple, cherry and blueberry on the menu.

Hey all:
Be happy, be thankful, be glad and be gay
that you're not a turkey on Thanksgiving Day.
Hope everyone has a great holiday.:thumb

I had only one or two people to support at work today, and they didn't need anything. I talked to my boss and he told me I could cut out at 2 (est) so I did. Made a quick stop for supplies so I can hide out the next few days when the stupid "bargain hunters" come out and clog up traffic and turn me homicidal.
Sadly, it's raining so I can't use this time to rake leaves or walk the dog. Guess I'll have to sit around here and do a lot of nothing. :D Sure beats being at work!

Welcome to my world Kbasa. :thumb
My only fear is my supervisors will catch on someday.
Happy pies to you all.

my "job" currently consists of taking some dude's cd collection, converting it to mp3 and then dumping it to dvd for import to a media library
yup, getting paid to sit at home, play online and pop cd's in and out
it's like my old job without the office and having to pop cd's in and out

Me too, er, the tavern. Yes, that's it. The "tavern"; that's where I'll be!

I'm actually working today as I am giving tests to my disgruntled students (digruntled because their teacher believes Thanksgiving to be only a two-day holiday). My classes are cut short, however, and I'm madly posting on the board in between.
I'm already thirsting for a cocktail, but I have several hours of house cleaning before I do any of that. The rellies are coming over tomorrow and things have to look spic and span.
We opted, this year, to purchase a prepared meal rather than make everything. Surprisingly inexpensive, but the quality remains to be seen. I'm optimistic. I'm going to be spending the day with an old friend, Jack Daniels, and he always makes things seem better.
We, too, will be having pies, though I don't know of which persuasion. I did notice two half-gallons of whole-fat, extra-rich vanilla ice cream in the coolerator, so that looks promising.
I wish you all a happy T-Day. :wave

I already tried that, and was reminded that I don't have any clients, and that if I do I'm supposed to turn them over to a salesperson.

Hmmm, 4:15pm. Now that I've awaken from my pre thanksgiving workday slumber, I suppose I should get set to leave the building. Now, how to fill out my daily time sheet to suggest having "worked" for the last 8 hours? I'll wake up my boss and ask him what to do.
Happy thanksgiving all.

I hear ya SNC1923! My students are also disgruntled. Mostly because the military no longer views Thanksgiving as a 4-day holiday so we had to go 12 hours for the last four days to make up the time to get Friday off.
I'm stuck here until 6pm and the snow is on the way so I'll get to see how the new 'Stich does in the white stuff.

I will be heading out to my EMS meeting at 6pm then off to work. I have an overnight 12hour shift tonight and a 24hr shift tomorrow. 36 hours straight.
UGGGHHHH. But it is all OT or DT. WOOHOO.

In the office before 7am today to do 7 travel expense reports from the last 4 weeks, phone calls to corporate accounting, several calls to airlines and hotels that charged me for places I have yet to be, then more phone calls..... Later, a conversation with the dept head regarding year end this and that followed by a discussion regarding personnel issues that need to be resolved (ugh!) Then, finally, an early exit to enjoy a couple slices of Leinenkugel's Honey Weiss Wheat pie.
Work makes the holidays much more enjoyable, as does my favorite pie!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Planned on only working a half day today, so with the great forecast (highs in the 60s), went in early, finalized my accomplishments for the year (didn't take long), left work by 10 and went riding with my daughter. Now that's the way to spend an afternoon.

Ruthie mahes a mean apple pie (with a lattice crust, mind you). She also makes an apple crisp that tastes good with a sharp cheddar and/or after dinner wine.
As for work......well, I took a little hiatus myself today, and took advantage of the 2 hours of administative leave granted by Uncle Sam to take one of those "life event" short hops on the GS. Good way to prepare for the tryptophan stupor, if I do say so myself.
