I always like to think back on what got my into motorcycling. I was in 9th grade and somebody got me a Cycle World in 1964 or so with a single cyinder Ducati Diana Mark III on the cover and a road test. I thought that was the best looking machine I had ever seen in my entire short life. That started my on motorcycling and by a junior I got a used 250 Monza and by a sophmore in college I got a 350 Scrambler. All my friends had Yamaha and Kawasaki dual sport 2 strokes so needless to say I was king of the crowd with that Ducati. Man I wish I had kept that 350 Ducati Scrambler. Any pictures you can put on to help me look back on those youthful days?

It brings back memories. Never really caught on, the Honda 250 then 305 scrambler got the press and coverage. Ducati just needed work keeping it running.

I've got a friend that does restorations etc. who favors old Ducatis. I'll bet he's got that bike. Or at least most of the parts. His shop is crammed full of old frames, motors, wheels, gas tanks etc. He's got three "jelly mold" Ducati tanks that are works of art.

I have one of these Ducati dual-sport bikes... a Cagiva Elefant (with a 650 cc Pantah motor). My bike is fun to ride, but I keep my AMA MoTow membership paid up. In another post I mentioned using MoTow 3 times - twice was for the Elefant.

I had forgotten about the Cagiva adventure. That was a V twinn? Looks like a KLR from that picture. I always lusted over that model but eventually got a R100GS. M1ka, great pictures and it looks like the yellow scrambler is restored in someones garage. Do you know its story? Driving those bikes required almost equal time maintanence. But great sound and really fun to ride. Check out the backwards shifting/rear brakes and kick start.

I fell in love with Duc singles late in life, in a convoluted fashion. I have a friend with bunches of parts and I wanted something nice to polish and put in my living room. I ended up buying a "lot" of Ducs including one complete Scrambler, now about 90% complete.

And enough parts to make a narrowcase 250 Monza, which although I have all the correct bodywork to make an original bike like the pic above (alas mine is not a desmo), I'm going to do as a mini "Imola Rep" with bodywork from Airtech, provided the kit will work with a narrowcase frame. (I have two frames and a good engine, no good widecase engines)

I couldn't find the "Wild Bunch in NYC" ad from '69, but have a hard copy at home I'll scan if nothing else. It's my favorite. The thought of a bunch of "bad-assed" biker types riding 250-450cc Italian single cylinder motorcycles entertains me to no end.:p

dlearl476 looks like you are putting a lot of work on that scrambler but well worth the effort. I had to do that over Christmas vacation after buying it brand new and owning it for 2 1/2 years. It needed a face lift so I took it down to the frame. Repainted the frame black again. Had the front cream colored fender chromed and but a rear chrome fender and a new chromed tail light on it. Painted the white and red gas tank black and got white Ducati decals for it. Looked pretty good and spring sold it never to see it again. I have got to see your finished product. Keep me informed
