Heck...plenty of Chicago "BMW" folks will be there.
Even the people who belong to the other on-line BMW motorcycle web sites ie: ADV Riders.com...MOA.com...BMWST.com,IBMWR.com.,ChainG ang....heck all kinds of folks
Our Club..Chicago Region BMW Owners Asso. #3 will also have a booth there again this year. Our club meets every second Thursday of the month (as a matter of fact tommorow night is a meeting) in Elmhurst Ill.
Here's a link to Club Web site.
http://crbmw.com/
I've been trying to make the Chicago group but its near impossible for me to make the meetings

Ditto - I don't like the crowds but on the downside you'll have to wait out the Friday pm rush hour. Sat you have long wait to park unless (may'be) you get there as soon as it opens.

I talked to someone today who is going to be working at the show. He said that he used to go on Friday's because the crowds much easier to navigate. The only concern might be the lack of shuttles but it is not that far of a walk from the station just up the street.
Think I am going to give it a go..

Anyone in Chicago or the Chicago 'Burbs, may be interested in this event.
In the tradition of the original 59 club, put a little extra spin on those tires and get 'em blessed! Here is more info:
Clarendon Hills Church Invites All to
“Bless My Ride” Celebration
On June 7, Church of the Holy Nativity (CHN), Clarendon Hills, will move the Sunday-morning liturgy out of its sanctuary and onto its large parking lot, at 275 S. Richmond Avenue (Richmond at 55th, Clarendon Hills) for an unusual and informal summer service. “If you drive, pedal or ride it, we will bless it,” states The Rev. Aimée Delevett, CHN rector.
“The Bless my Ride service was inspired by the spectacular popularity of car-centered events like Cruze Nites here in the Western suburbs,” Rev. Delevett continued, “where people bring their cars and kids to have a great time in the summer sunshine. This year, we have expanded to include motorcycles and bicycles as well. We’re inviting all to bring their cars, bikes and kids (and their scooters and trikes), and worship with us in the summer sunshine. We think it’ll be a great time, too.”
The CHN parking lot opens at 9 am, with special reserved parking for classic cars and bikes. During the service, which begins at 10 am, every “ride” (car, motorcycle, bike, wheelchair, anything with wheels), will receive a special blessing. “We’re calling it, ‘Bless My Ride!’” the priest observed. “I’m looking forward to blessing all of them – from elegantly restored classics to daily rides, from Beemer’s to bicycles to beaters, and everything in between.”

Was an excellent ride for this trip. 75 on the slab effortlessly, handled the slick muddy owl poop that occasionally passed for road surface, the torque band was easily tapped.
Did see a few 650GS Thumpers - the 1150 might have the edge. Anyhow not a single problem the entire trip.... just add gas from time to time - and not picky as to the octane either.
Get into the Yukon - you have a choice of diesel or unleaded, and you're happy to get that.
I am very impressed by this machine.

The GS is an outstanding machine - did 925 miles in a single day - did several 800+ mile days. Rode the the Haul Road and the Dempster - dirt and gravel paths that suffer every possible destructive force of nature and man. 8" deep freezing mud, deep scary gravel, ruts, you name it - the GS handled it well. (The rider was however occasionally spooked...)
The K is paid for, I need to sell the GS to pay back the bank's money.
An amazing and very well thought out design. I'll get another someday.

Yeah, here it is:
The DINKY DOZEN'S STILL HUMBLE MINI RALLY. Friday Night, through Sunday, August 16, 2008 at 4-H Fairgrounds, Pontiac, IL. Registration - Saturday 7 a.m.-3 p.m. We're back and still humble. Join the Dinky Dozen for their 27th rally. We're continuing our new way of rallying. Our Mini Rally is a great place to reconnect with old friends and make some new. We'll be at the same place, 4-H Fairgrounds in Pontiac. Registration starts Saturday at 7 a.m. Admission is $20 and includes camping. Beemer01
08-08-2009, 10:59 AM
My friend on this trip rode a Kawasaki 650 twin, heavily modified. Of course I think my 1150GS was the better machine.... but both bikes finished the ride. My other ride is an 85 K100RS - 'the finest year', but probably would not have been the right machine to ride to Deadhorse and back.
The 1150 had significantly more passing ummph, no chain to lube and futz with and had a bigger gas tank.
Fun adventure.

Good route - some nice twisties. I would like to go again now that I have been through it once. There are some bends that you cannot see the exit point which unnerved me a little without knowing the road.
Who's up for the Quincy ride in Sept? We went last time after the floods and we changed and rerouted several times due to flooding - those smaller less traveled roads were downright fun. Quincy is nothing special but there is a serviceable Italian restaurant with a reasonable wine selection for the dinner at the end first day of riding. Nauvoo is interesting stop and Moline has the John Deere museum

I'm organizing a weekend ride as follows -
9-26 Leave Chicago after breakfast, riding River Roads West winding up at the Mississippi. Route TBD. That evening in Quincy, Ill - camping not far from the River - cheap hotels are available for those that prefer a comfy bed.
Italian dinner and a riding tour of Quincy's astonishing 1900 vintage mansions. National Geographic calls this town on the the ten most significant architecturial towns in America.
9-27 return to Chicago via Peoria on Rt. 24.
Back by late afternoon.
Now - who's really in?:dance

What a great machine - you really need to finish its restoration - crying shame not to have that bike ridden.
Really all you need is to paint the tailpiece and front fender, rand replace the switchgear and crash pad and it'll look as good as it rides!

I saw Marcin today, he had an accident the other night, he's not sure what happened, but he lost control of a KTM he was riding, crashed and he woke up in a hospital 6 hours later.:sick
ATGATT saved him - his helmet, jacket and pants were toast - Doc has told him to stay off the bike for a while. KTM can be repaired.
He'll be OK. I think he's off MOA - so messages posted here won't be seen by him.

Was a beautiful day to get out and about. My thoughts were to ride till the gas light came on...so I could fill-er up with fresh gas. Did that.....about 140 mi for the day. Just a few stops and meeting up with many many many bikes on the road. And most waved!! Could this be it??? Riding in November; how good is that!

I don't think we passed each other, but 140 miles... good day, good miles.
I rode down to US 11 then back zigzagging to Whitewater, before heading back home. Miles and smiles. Who cares if the Packers lost to a winless team. I enjoyed to susnshine and warmth.
