Do you have a rivet yet? I'm telling you, Harley has this motorcycle marketing figured out! !http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/HD_Museum/ltl/ltl_overview.jsp?locale=en_US&bmLocale=en_US

I think their philosophy is "let's be as ridiculous and embarrassing as possible and see who buys in"
If you HD-logo it, they will buy.

It's a lot bigger than that now.

I wonder which Chinese metal company won the contract ?
I would bet they will have no trouble getting donors anymore than the Organ Procurement programs.
However all joking aside it would be nice if they would use the scrap metal from the Twin Towers.
$1,500 to put your name on a 6 inch rivet??? Wow. Makes that 3 inch rivet at $250 look like a flipping bargain! This is pure marketing genius because you know the knobs are lining up to cough up their money. They should throw in a t-shirt (black of course) for an extra $50... PT Barnum is clearly in charge at Harley.

I wonder if I could buy a rivet that says something like:
"I like passing you guys on my BMW <signed name>"
or
"My rivet is different, just like everyone else's!"
Of course, BMW could do something similar. Charge twice as much and use scrap metal from bad final drives. :D
Instead of rivets they can make tiny FD bearings with inscriptions on them, then make a bunch of small poles out of them.

I actually complained about the FD thing being on here too much. My FD is working fine, but I ride Airheads, after all. :D Just poking fun. It's a good diversion from other forum areas....

I think this was a great idea. You can bet they charge admission to the museum too, with a discount to H.O.G. members (maybe).
Harley can never have too much cash flow.
