I'm trying to find the site for that R90S (R100?) Cafe special with the chrome tank that was written up in the ON and other places a few years back. hmm...if I remember correctly, almost everything on it was customized. The frame was highly modified frame from a later GS, the tank was all chrome, the black front fairing a streamlined, but bulbous, design with a single small headlight set off center. It sorta split the difference between an R100S and a vintage sporting Ducati fairing.
Anyone know the bike I'm talking about? have a link to a site or some photos?
thanks,
-scott

That's the one!
Here's the best photo I could quickly find (not off their web-site, their pics are pretty crummy).

This could be you, Mark. Imagine the belly pan and fairing painted body color with the stock seat.

What the hell is that on the seat cowl, a spoiler? Must work great with a 200 pound rider inches in front of it. Cafe racers need to be airheads!

I almost got one of those fairings for the roadster, but decided on the RS instead. The coverage of that fairing is very similar to the RS. I thought the seat looked stupid, why would one want a spoiler enema in the event of a get off. I really enjoy seeing fairings on various bikes at rallies. No one really makes a fairing for the new roadster, guess if you want one, buy the factory model.

Knary, a big TNX for posting the R cafe bike pict. I've never been so happy "save picture as" worked. It seems everywhere I look on that bike is something Really Different (all excellent)! Dual pivot (Paralever?) rear, external spokes, no alternator(?!) WOW. I suspect it is a Rocket!

I always liked the Hannigan fairing. Saw one on an oilhead but it scared me how much it blocked the airflow over the cylinders. I like the REAL R100RS just I thought having the paralever of the late R100R would be a bonus. Maybe a RS conversion of a R100 Mystic is my dream bike. Or maybe just a R100R with a Hannigan fairing.

P.S. I saw a bike being made for South Africa. It was a R1150 drivetrain mounted with the running gear of the old R1100R. It looked pretty good to me. But, I liked the look of the old Roadster better.

Scott,
Were you looking for more info about the bike or a photo or two (for wallpaper or something)? I've got a few pics of that bike if you're interested.

Mostly just looking for some photos. When I first saw photos of it a few years back, it struck me as simply beautiful - one of those too rare times when a custom motorcycle wasn't just unusual. I had wanted to dig it up to show a friend of mine, a Harley loving friend, what direction I would take a custom bike.

I don't know why I could never get excited about the Mystic. I think it's because the whole tail section of that bike looks almost exactly like a Honda Nighthawk 250.
