I was out for my usual weekend morning ride and was into it for about an hour when I came up to a stop sign, engaged the clutch and stopped. Something didn't feel right so I looked down and the tach was reading 3100 rpm or so even when my hand was complete off the throttle. I released the clutch and began to move, reclutched and the throttle went back to "normal".

Thinking this was odd I pulled over a couple of miles later, put the bike in in neutral and operated the throttle alone and again it stuck at about 3100 rpm for about 5 seconds, then went back to normal idle. It continues to stick like this, but not every time. I have an 07 K12GT. I will note that this morning was the first time it was cold enough to use the handgrip warmers, but I don't think it would be related. Since I am obviously not very well versed in how these things work, any thoughts/comments on how to fix the problem are appreciated.

Wasn't there a recall on 2006 models to fix this problem by replacing the airbox? Maybe your '07 got an old airbox.

Your dealer should have a ton of information on this subject.

I too have a 07GT. In late Feburary I made a similar post about similar problems. Over the last 8 months I have been struggling to have that same problem fixed. Finally this week the problem has been fixed. I was told that the airbox was the problem, and I thought that they had fixed the problem long ago. It was never fixed. What my dealer had been instructed to do, was to modify the airbox or install a modified aribox. I am unclear as to which was done. Even with that being done I still had problems. On Friday I picked my bike up from the dealer again, but this time they had installed a newly designed airbox. I rode it hard the past two days in the mountains of SC, NC, Ga, and Tn. It is if that put a new engine in my bike! It is awesome with the newly designed airbox. I asked my dealer if all GTs with the old airbox are being brought back in for repair. The answer that he gave me was that nothing is being done unless the owner reports a problem. If anyone is having problems with the idle, cruise control being jerky, aburpt on and off power, or a lack of power in the midrange, I would discuss this with your dealer. I was so discouraged that I was seriously considering trading, now I am so excited that I can finally appreciated the newly designed K engine.

Thanks for the insights, I'll bring up the airbox issue with my dealer, as Sam described some other oddities with throttle control, abrupt on and off, etc, it makes more sense.
