For such a widely represented and balanced community... can it be that you guys are really that snotty?
No.
That's just something we delegate to our webmaster.
:D
Don't worry. He ignores us too.

Actually, just read your other post... I wouldn't want to pay to type that either.
So far we have a name-call, a rant, and a cleverly di$gui$ed vulgarity.
Welcome to the club, you'll fit right in!

Hello,
I wanted to post to the forums. I'm not sure if I want full membership yet.
I went in to see if this was a problem. It's a rare community when it is.
TWO DAYS AGO
Under "posting guidelines" .... " why should I register?"
it stated that "registration is free and allows you to do the following.. post new threads."
I tried to register to post but none of the options were without charge. I emailed the webmaster to inquire and was ignored.
TODAY
I checked back and the same menu now states..
"registration is free for members of the BMW Motorcycle Owners of a America
and allows you to do the following... post new threads"
While it's gratifying to know that I've pointed out some misdirection to the moderators here, it would have been at least a little civil to grant me some explanation via email.
For such a widely represented and balanced community... can it be that you guys are really that snotty?
He/she who smelt it, dealt it.
Welcome.

I think you may be jumping to conclusions a bit too soon. While I agree that a response to your email would have been a good thing, judging the rest of us based on one unreturned email is a bit premature, don't you think?
On a side note, I think it IS good we don't allow "free posting"; else SPAM would become an issue... as well as people who would show up and post in an attempt to cause problems. Most of those people don't feel like going to the trouble if money is involved.

Despite your reservations, I'd still reccommend taking the plunge and joining the MOA. The ON (Owner's News) is the finest motorcycle magazine I read, and I read plenty.
The forum posting is a two edged sword - say the wrong thing to 'the old guard' and you might get beat up a little (in print only - been there), but all in all, each member means well and wants the MOA to thrive and take the high road among MC organizations.
In the event of a problem or something about your bike that perplexes you, a holler on the forum will often bring you solutions faster than a phone call to the dealer. A resource you will learn to appreciate.
Hey - you could waste $35 a lot of other ways that wouldn't cause you to lose sleep, so what the heck - send in the check, and give the MOA a chance.
You may be pleasantly surprised.
Welcome!

Hmmm... based on the deletion of the original post (and the other post that was made in another thread), I'm getting the impression this person doesn't plan on hanging around... but I've been wrong once or twice before.

I'm not sure he was THAT bad. I didn't have enough material to draw any conclusions about him. Sure he started out a little bad (what with calling us all snotty)... but maybe he could have been a good contributor? It's possible I'm being too nice, lately. :)

Anyone who comes into a group and feels that their opening words need to be rude will always have a hard time assimilating. I would welcome that person and have a brew or whatever with them in person. But if they felt the need to call me snotty or whatever in that first drink/exchange, then I am pretty sure they would get to finish it by themselves.
What gives? The human is definitely a interesting species, but why waste the time doing something the pisses you off.

Uh, dudes..
..what is it with middle aged guys suddenly losing all bearings when life comes to gettin on their rebellion?
I mean, rock just ain't the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and The Kinks. Rock WAS the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and The Kinks (or jimmy buffet if just insist on being unhip). Classic Rock is a shameless oxymoron (or it out'a be). Rock is supposed to be iconoclastic dammit. If it ain't fresh and stompin all over yesterdays tunes, it just ain't Rock. OK? So get off'a your duff and tune in to some new stuff already.
And what the heck's with motorcycle clubs? What happened to the purest loner ethos of motorcycledom? The true freedom of open vistas - unfettered by some other idiots demands upon you. I mean, fine, go ahead and club it, if you havn't washed your hair in six months and your only dues are the bottle rent you pay to basically live from bar to bar.. that's legit. But clean wholesome dues paying clubs full of cheesy second-childhood ninetofivers with a collected sense of humor of one Boston Fern for god's sakes?
What's this world coming to?

Yah! Unfettered! Loner Ethos of Motorcycledom! Bottle Rent! I'm trading in my boston fern, my house, and my copy of A1A! All I ask is gas money and enough dog food and Oscar Meyer bologna to get me through until I'm eligible for social security and medicare. All I need is my scoot, my helmet, and my internet connection so I can keep in touch with True Wisdom. Lay them Open Vistas on me, and give my share of the cheese to the unenlightened nincompoops.
**** the Man! *** the Man! **** the Man!
ps- please don't tell my wife I'm legit now. She'll kill me.

live and let live... a bit. And get your meds adjusted.
I've seen "loners" like you on the road. I don't like em. Neither does my '63 F-150 half ton apparently. Has a mind of it's own.
I'd better not find you in my neighborhood.
Your type is trouble for sure.
And Zeppelin rocks. Still rocks. You watch your back.
If you need, I can recommend the best meds. Let me know. You can see how well they work for me.

Hey, iIf I can get along with Greenwald and Greenwald can tolerate me, then anybodys can adapt to the group, and if that happens, surley the group can adapt to anybody(s)!
We may not beat the drum the same beat, but we still is part of the band, and we still play music!
