I need to replace the battery on my K1100rs, and was wondering if there are any computer issues with powering down completely. I know sometimes it helps to hold memory with a small battery on cars. Is there any need to go that far on this bike? KC

Don't believe anything special needs to be done. My '94 K11RS was still on it's original battery when i sold the bike in 2004 at 54,000 miles :eek , so i can't say for sure. :whistle But in repalcing the battery on my R11S, the only thing i bothered to do was reset the Motronic by turning ignition on, opening throttle WFO 2x, then hitting starter button. Believe yours needs nothing more than that, possibly less.

The K11 computer does store various bits of data, but nothing I'd be overly concerned about being reset.

Disconnect the ground cable first and the the positive cable. Reconnect the positive cable first, then the ground.
