Tough call. The Godfather, James Brown always exhorts us to "Get Up!, Get on Up!", but the Ohio Players always told us to "Get down, get down".

I've usually been a "Get down" kinda guy, so I voted that way.

Either way, get down with your bad self!

*goes off to fire up some Outkast*

devise material continue to be posted? I can just see the near future as all the "get down" riders verbally abuse the "get on up" riders.
When will the hostilities cease?
Thanks for the laff -
I'm going to chicken out and vote "along" on account of sometimes I be all over gettin' down, but then other times I just hafta get on up.

From Public Enemy's "911 is a Joke"

Getup, a get get a get down,
911s a joke in yo town.

PE is clearly straddling the issue.

While Bootsy is good, as is P-Funk the original King of Soul set the stanard for Get on Up.

That coupled with the Wailer's song of Stand Up for Your Rights.

Well one must get up.

Cause something is going down, it ain't about punk, and it aint about the scene. --- LowFidelity All Stars

I have always preferred to 'get down,' but I will always get up for the down stroke.

"Get up for the down stroke. Everybody get up!"

I think that people have a right to choose whether to get up or get down and I will defend that right to my death with my Bop Gun.

Make my funk a P-Funk. I wants to get funked up.

I don't get it. I never got it. I don't care if I ever get it. No one has it, and no one ever will have it.

You'll need to report to the Grand Master of Funk, George Clinton. He can give you the cure by sending you back to the mothership.

If you want it.

I gotta go with "get up"...

Get Up, Stand Up, stand up for your right (3 times)
Get Up, Stand Up, don't give up the fight

Preacher man don't tell me heaven is under the earth
I know you don't know what life is really worth
Is not all that glitters in gold and
Half the story has never been told

So now you see the light, aay
Stand up for your right. Come on
Get Up, Stand Up, stand up for your right
Get Up, Stand Up, don't give up the fight
(Repeat)

Most people think great God will come from the sky
Take away ev'rything, and make ev'rybody feel high
But if you know what life is worth
You would look for yours on earth
And now you see the light
You stand up for your right, yeah!

Get Up, Stand Up, stand up for your right
Get Up, Stand Up, don't give up the fight
Get Up, Stand Up. Life is your right
So we can't give up the fight
Stand up for your right, Lord, Lord
Get Up, Stand Up. Keep on struggling on
Don't give up the fight
We're sick and tired of your ism and skism game
Die and go to heaven in Jesus' name, Lord
We know when we understand
Almighty God is a living man
You can fool some people sometimes
But you can't fool all the people all the time
So now we see the light
We gonna stand up for our right
So you'd better get up, stand up, stand up for your right
Get Up, Stand Up, don't give up the fight
Get Up, Stand Up, stand up for your right
Get Up, Stand Up, don't give up the fight.

I must admit, I'm generally in favor of getting up.
Yesterday I had to just keep singing "Ya gotta get over the hump." So happy it's Thursday.

However, I do intend to "Lay down and boogie and play that funky music 'til I die," as I am a young, Caucasion male. And I can't help but "uh oh :uhoh with the get down" when it's time to Jungle Boogie.

Let's make it funky,
Mark

P.S. If you enjoyed that serious piece of unbiased journalism (http://www.theonion.com/onion3539/national_funk_congress.html), you may wish to get funked up with this Mothership Connection. (http://http://www.theonion.com/onion3104/mothership.html)
