I was putting speedbleeders on my 2001 R1100RT. Did the back and bled it quickly and easily. Moved to the right front and that weird post fill adapter that the factory uses. Took out the grub screw and tried to fit the speedbleeder in, but couldn't. So... thought since the sides of the post have flat areas for a wrench, I would remove the whole thing and then install the speedbleeder directly. Big mistake! The post snapped off leaving a shiny aluminum tube sitting flush with the caliper and also in the post itself. Tried using an easy out on the post with the post held in a vice, but no go. Tried drilling it out with progressively larger drill bits and got to minimal thickness with no threads showing. Yikes! How's the darn thing put it?
Anyway Beemer Boneyard is sending me a used caliper for $65.00. Still has that rotten post. Any info on how to put the speedbleeder in when the caliper arrives would be most appreciated.

I had no problem removing the adapter to install a SpeedBleeder. Just hope that your new one is similarly simple. If you're concerned, use teh usal convincers- WD40, maybe a touch of heat gun, etc.

Did the whole post piece just screw out or did you remove the grub screw and install the bleeder in the post itself?

Someone (not me) had buggered the grub screw so it could not be removed with an Allen bit, so it was necessary to remove the entire adapter.

I just successively drilled and dremeled and got the piece out, so now I will try to put the speedbleeder in.

Yea! Success. Got a new speedbleeder installed and bled the system and I'm good to go!:dance

but I'd think that after doing this job, you'd be more interested in being "good to stop."
always a nice feeling when you can make it work. :thumb

Just got to give a kudo to Beemerboneyard. Before I decided to try and extract the old fitting by drilling, I ordered a used caliper from beemerboneyard. After I had successfully fixed my old one I emailed them to try and cancell the order. Its Sunday night and I just received an email from them saying:
No problem, it has been cancelled. Thanks.
Mike
Amazing given that this is Sunday night. Great service! I have used them before for parts and have always gotten just what I ordered quickly and efficiently, but this was a bit beyond what I thought I could reasonably expect.

the fitting for the vacuum adapter is loctited at the factory, a little heat when removing it helps
you know, for next time:thumb

Yeah, I figured that out when I was chasing it out and saw some red as the threads were revealed.:banghead
