Has anyone ever seen the German version of this magazine. Is it any good ? By their website it looks like this is the first chance to get the magazine in English.
I would be interested in hearing from someone who has actually seen the magazine. A years subscription is only $18. And for that price you get a whooping 2 issues.
So, is it worth it ? :dunno

I can't address your specific question but when I tried to order, the site's security certificate wasn't valid and so I couldn't order. :violin
No negative reflection on their site but they need to update their certificate. The only option is to go to a library and order but who knows what kind of spyware/keystroke loggers are on there just waiting for someone enter their credit card numbers. :hungover
Sure it's a good magazine.

Tom,
I've seen it in German. You can too. You can even order previous & current issues in German for delivery in the US.
The MO "BMW Motorraeder" is a bi-annual, slickly packaged BMW 'special' put out by the monthly MO mag. To my knowledge this is the first German-based mag that is attempting an English-language edition, although only 2x year.
Is it worth it? No idea what your criteria are....the German version has lots of nice photos, often based on the same corp press-release material that shows up in ON, the MOA Forum, and lots of other sources.
The German version occasionally has in-depth articles on BMW topics rarely found in other mags. BMW ON even published one informal translation of one of the German articles several years ago. Don't know whether all the German articles will get included/ translated in the English version. If they are, there might be BMW info not easily found in other English-language moto mags. On the other hand, you'll eventually get the same info from other sources, perhaps even more quickly, including google translations of BMW-related articles from other German mag sources like www.motorradonline.de, www.tourenfahrer.de, etc.
Sort of depends on your "desire/tolerance" coefficient for ever more BMW-related magazines :hungover

I was in Germany a couple weeks ago and picked up a copy of the 23rd BMW Special Edition. Here are the topics of a few of the feature articles:
A guy with an airhrad GS that is punched out to 1108 cc, with fuel injection and some KTM parts
A shop that makes replacement duolever steering linkage
BMW Factory Team at Pike's Peak
What an Italian designer has done with an HP2
How to get more sound out of stock pipes (and stay legal)
The BMW Days rally in Garmisch
Restoring an airhead with a big aftermarket fairing to a naked bike
Part 6 in a series on restoring an R100RS (installing crank, bearings, seals and conrods)
Interview with the star of a TV show about a country doctor who rides around on an R66 with hack to see his patients
Other Articles:
The new HP2 Sport (street bike)
DOHC engine for the HP2
R75/5 "lowrider" with turbo, fuel injection
The new BMW Boxer Cup
The magazine is 114 pages with excellent graphics and in depth articles by professional journalists. The HP2 Sport article is 8 pages including 2 double page photos. The DOHC article has excellent cut away graphics. And each article has a facts table with data related to price, HP, contact info, race results, and other details.
Most interesting was the editor's column regarding his comments on the perception of BMW's declining quality in the previous BMW Special Edition. He had never received so much mail about a column, and the overwhelming majority was from owners agreeing with him and citing their own issues with oilheads, and praising their beloved airheads. I would definitely recommend English versions of MotorRad Magazin, an dthe BMW Special Editions if they were available.
I don't know whether the English language magazine printed in Germany will reflect the real world of German BMW owners or if it's a propaganda tool produced by BMW. If it's the former, I would encourage anyone to spend $18.00/year to see what's happening with the brand in Germany. If it's the latter, well...

It was not clear whether, if you ordered a subscription, you would receive the first English issue. So used the magazine's contact page to ask if you did.
No response.
Not good.

I take it from the other posts that you are refering to BMW Motorräder?
I've seen it on the news stands while sitting around at the airport in Germany.
If its like any of the other German motorcycle magazines that I subscribe to, it should be very good; certainly a lot better than the lame NA mags available here.

A mere $18 per year, even if it is only two issues. :laugh Cripes, I pay $201.40 for my annual subscription to Motorrad. You've spiked my interest so I'll pick up a copy next June.

My dealer had some siting on the counter the other day. I grabed one. I have found it very interesting. The RT comparison was good as was the buying an older K bike article. It is full of very technical information and does not not seem to be a BMW propaganda vehicle as it lists many of the shortcomings of our favorite mounts and doesn't seem to pull any punches.
I have found the english language translations to be entertaining. The turn of phrase can be surprising sometimes. A different view. It is very readable though. I'm going to go for it.

I received a copy in the mail. I don't have any idea who arranged it . I'll have to ask my dealer if they did it. I enjoyed the magazine. The language is a bit odd, but doesn't detract. I'd like to see more, but not for $9.00 each.
