How much can I expect to pay for new tires for my 2004 R1150RT? As a re-entry rider, it's been a while since I've purchased new rubber. I'll probably go with a good all-around tire- there are many posts with good suggestions, but non seem to mention cost. Any help would be appreciated.

I've bought tires from Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse (http://www.accwhse.com/) four times. They're shipped to me via FedEx, in great condition, fresh mfr. dates, and the price is great. I use Z6's on my '03RT and am very pleased with them. They're great for me on the slab, on twisties, and in rain. Of course, you'll have to either mount them yourself, if you can, or get a dealer to do it (mounting price can be high, i.e., $60 per tire).

I had my local dealer replace both front and rear on my '02 RT (Metzler ME880s) a month or so ago, and it was $300 for tires, stems, shop supplies and labor.

Southwest moto tires has been my only source of tires for 5 or 6 years.I mount and balance my own. They have good prices and free shipping if you buy 2 tires.I`ve been using Avons on my R100RT and am very happy with wet and dry performance, and so far getting better tire life with them as opposed to Metzlers. I had Michelin Pilot Roads once but they are si D--- noisy I couldn`t stand them.

depending on where you live figure 275-300 if you do the dirty work (have the tires shipped to your house then take the wheels off and bring them somewhere, a lot of places wont do this though, look for the independent shop)
add 100 or more to have it done at the dealer, a set of tires that costs you 225 online is gonna be 325 at the dealer, then add removal, mount, balance and re-installation, you're looking at low 400s

for the average rider, SMT offers the best price and service. If you have a Cycle Gear http://cyclegear.com/ near you http://cyclegear.com/store.cfm, they offer great prices on the mount/balance if you get your tires from them. Most dealers have way too high a markup, unless they have some kind of special going on.
I generally expect to have to shell out about $250, mounted & balanced, for a good set of s/t tires.

Bought my front Z6 from Cyclegear at my local store $140 plus tax, brought in the wheel and they mounted and balanced with new stem for $25.
