Canadian amateurs to compete at BMW Golf Cup International World Final in Australia

Whitby/ Huntsville, ON. MJ Cassibo from Campbellville, ON, Mivil Deschenes from Blainville, QC and Dave Stanga from Burlington, ON will represent Canada at the 2007 BMW Golf Cup International World Final in Australia. Cassibo, Deschenes and Stanga earned the right to play for Canada by winning their respective flights at the BMW Golf Cup International Canadian Final on September 16, 2007 at Clublink’s Grandview Golf Club in Huntsville, Ontario. The Canadian team will challenge golfers from 50 other countries at the spectacular New South Wales Golf Club in Sydney from December 3 through 8, 2007.

An astonishing 6,000 amateurs from 53 BMW Golf Cup qualifying tournaments across the nation competed for the right to play at the BMW Golf Cup International Canadian Final this year. This
marked the12th annual tournament in Canada and the largest Canadian Final yet with 91 participants.

Ladies Champ, MJ Cassibo won in an exciting playoff which was settled on the first hole. Before the playoff, Cassibo had tied for 1st with 36 stableford points. She qualified for the Canadian Final by winning the BMW Golf Cup at Eagle Ridge Golf Club.

Dave Stanga used home course knowledge to win the Men’s 0-12.9 index category. Stanga won with a 35 point total. He also qualified for the Canadian Final at Grandview.

Mivil Deschenes won the Men’s 13-28 index category with 41 stableford points. Deschenes qualified for the BMW Golf Cup International Canadian Final at Val des Lacs Golf Club in Quebec.

“Canadian amateurs have an impressive history at the BMW Golf Cup International World Final,” said Kevin Marcotte, Director, Marketing, BMW Group Canada. “BMW Canada is pleased to offer MJ, Dave and Mivil the opportunity to compete on the world stage.”

In 2006, the Canadian team won BMW Golf Cup International World Final. For four of the last five years, Canadians have won at least one of the BMW Golf Cup International World Final category titles.

In conjunction with the Golf Cup program BMW Canada and its Retailers donate money to participating golf clubs and their junior development programs. This continued support has led to over $155,000 donated to junior golf across Canada since 1994.

For eighteen years now, the BMW Golf Cup International has been synonymous with providing amateur club golfers the opportunity to compete on the world stage. BMW subsidiaries and retailers coordinate the series on a national level, while BMW AG of Munich organizes the World Final. Over 1000 qualifying tournaments have been held worldwide in 2007 with more than 100,000 participants.

The BMW Golf Cup International World Final is the culmination of the world’s largest annual amateur golf series, as competitors from 50 countries competed for individual titles in three handicap divisions, and the overall Team title.

BMW Canada was a platinum sponsor of the Canadian Open, Canada’s most prestigious golf tournament and the third oldest in the world, for the first time this year. BMW is the Official Car of the tournament. More information about BMW’s long time support of golf can be found at www.bmw-golfsport.com.

MINI USA.COM OFFERS FUN, PLAYFUL WEB ENHANCEMENTS

Owners and Prospects Invited To Explore Website to Discover New Content and Function.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ - September 21, 2007... In the spirit of engaging owners in fun and unconventional ways, MINI USA has made enhancements to MINIUSA.com designed to invite owners and enthusiasts to explore and discover new content on the site.

Over 300 enthusiasts and users who have registered as MINI Insiders at www.MINIUSA.com will receive an e-mail with four secret codes that will reveal fun and playful features on the site, some of which change the look and feel of the site in very interesting ways. In addition to the four codes sent in the e-mail, there are three more codes hidden in the site that unlock other fun and engaging features on the site. One such code "under the hood" entered into the search field will reveal a viewing lenses that offers a rather cheeky behind-the-scene look at inner workings of MINI USA's high-tech website.

In MINI's spirit of "surprise and delight", the site engages users to discover these hidden elements while learning more about the latest MINI product features. There are select product features that are highlighted with fun and unexpected changes in graphics and animation when the user either rolls over or clicks on the given product feature. For example, when a user rolls over the product information regarding MINI's engine they are greeted with an unexpected animation that underscores engine's POW-erful output.

The new content also includes 25 MINI fun facts revealed in the form of the question "Did You Know?" These fun facts appear at the bottom of select web pages and rotate with new messages depending on the information the user is viewing. Adding to the element of discovery, not all fun fact messages appear on the bottom of every page. Some pages have a unique set of messages that only appear when the user is on that given page. The challenge is for the user to do a bit of detective work and discover all 25 by navigating the various pages of the site.

"The MINI brand offers a fun and engaging experience through all customer touch-points and this is no more apparent than on MINIUSA.com ." said MINI USA marketing Manager Trudy Hardy. "With these web enhancements we are inviting users to come explore what is new on the site in a fun and unconventional way. And of course there will be more exciting things to come on MINIUSA.com as we prepare for the launch of the MINI Clubman, our next new model arriving early next year."

Mika has some interesting reading here:

For folks wondering which Workshop Manual (http://bmwmotorrad.co.za.temp.glodns.net/bikes/workshop/tech/articles/reference.html) is best ...

If you are going to undertake any serious work on your bike you will need a workshop manual, or at least a source of specification data (lubrication, fluids, adjustments, tightening torque).

A good workshop manual not only provides all the specifications and other data required to complete a maintenance operation, but will also include step by step guides complete with high quality photographs.

Sure to start a fight in an empty barroom:

I believe that on the GS a service history is most important but there is an issue here. The BMW company are in the main pretty bad when it comes to looking after past customers. you have been pre-warned.
