The Dell server hosting the BMWLT site also hosts a BMW K Bike forum and Ducati forum. All three are down. A message at the Ducati forum notes waiting for server parts from Dell and a hope all is back online Tuesday.

Now they are saying today (Wednesday) at noon. Is that EST or PST? I guess I will know in four hours.

[I]K-BIKES.com
Is down for maintenance.
We experienced the perfect storm of virtually simultaneous hardware failures. We are working diligently to restore services and should have he site back up late Tuesday, September 25. We apologize for the interruption in services.
UPDATE: Dell's technician arrived at our server's location yesterday(Tuesday) and tried unsucessfully to repair the server. New parts are dispatched and a new tech visit is scheduled for 11AM PDT today. In case everything goes according to plan we should be back online no later than 3PM PDT. We will keep you posted about the progress.[I]
This is the latest from their site 12:50 PDT.

Update as posted on BMWLT.com
9/26/07 3PM PDT UPDATE: As you may have seen 3PM came and went and we are not yet up. I cannot say as to how long it is going to take, because everytime I get a time told by one of the vendors, (and there are a number of them involved) I get disappointed. Suffice it to say that a tech is on site as we speak and we HOPE to be back online soon. Please be aware though that even after we come back online we will have the possibility of a few short outages while we have to do some needed housekeeping. Watch here for further updates in this never ending story of computer reliability. (Can you hear my frustration?)

The only thing funnier than the drive failure joke, is how many of us are reading and posting on a forum, about a server failure on another forum.
I think we all need to back away from the keyboard and go do something real....Rod.:stick

It's real to me. I usually sit here with my first cup of coffee in the morning reading the LT site postings, then I move to this site. By now it's around 5:45 and I've already ridden 20+ miles to work plus checked my e-mail. When I finish it's time to start work. That's as real as it gets this early in the morning.

Andy finally navigated the problems with Dell. When they actually send a competent tech to the co-lo datacenter, things moved pretty fast. He arrived last night at 7pm, and the site was back up and running fine by 3am this morning.
With Andy in Texas, the center in California, sometimes it's like trying to adjust the idle on a R-bike with a 1000 mile long screwdriver.
So that means that www.bmwlt.com, www.k-bikes.com, and www.ducati.ms are back up and running.
