R1200GS Jesse's

Check out the Jesse website, they are already selling cases for the hexhead. Anybody seen any other vendors with after market accessories for the 1200GS? JON

Hepco & Becker has saddlebag mounts, crash bars, and a luggage roack according to eurotechmotorsports.

I think I will go with Hepco bags. Why buy non-waterproof BMW bags??? :dunno

I agree that HB and other bags are better than BMW but you have to admit that the BMW mounts are very low profile with the bags off. I've not seen any aftermarket brackets that don't look big and bulky.

Yeah, most of them are pretty bad. The H&B ones aren't too terrible, though. Pictures here on a bike I'm trying to sell:

There are a lot of other bags out there. Jesse, Hepco & Becker, Touratech, Happy Trails and Moto-Sport to name a few. Personally, I like the looks of the Moto-Sport and if I get a GS might go with them. Has there ever been a side by side comparo with all the bags done?

I was told that the new BMW bags for the R1200GS - those wacky expandable ones - are not waterproof, but this is all rumor, so may not be correct.

My comment was not meant to be a general comment about all BMW bags; only a comment about the R1200GS bags, which are a different design from all the rest as far as I know. For example, the "system cases" on my RS are quite waterproof.


The Hepco & Becker bags that I have used extensively are waterproof.

Sorry, but I know nothing about the bags used on the R1200CLC or Montauk...

They do come with waterproof liners. They come standard, not an extra item, I was told by the Motorrad rep at the local cycle show.

Do the Hepco's and Jesse's come with liners already?

Edit: I'm talking about the R1200GS bags, the expandable ones that BMW offers...

Some folks have had issues with the waterproofness of the BMW system cases. I, for one, have never had an issue with the bags - and I live in the Pacific Northwet. Some do leak a bit, some leak a lot - especially if you overstuff them, thus distorting the lids. The only time mine leaked, I had crammed a huge pile of stuff in them, and gotten something caught in the mating surfaces between the inner part and the lid.

Having said all that, the CLC has its own special flavor of bags. I have not heard any specific comments or complaints about their waterproofness.
