Hey Karlheinz,
Man I love those RTP's! Plus, do the police just wave at you when you're cruising by at Mach 1.2? :burnout
Since I have an RS, no oil cooler fan, this is a guess: I'm willing to bet there's a sensor of some type, perhaps a bimetallic strip or a thermocouple. That, plus a possible relay to handle the current to the fan motor. Either one could be at fault.
Can you get a DMM aka voltmeter and trace the wiring...a diagram would be useful...to find the power leads to the fan? You should see some voltage, something like 12v when the fan's running. Trace back towards the sensor and/or relay, if there is one and see if you can find where the electricity is coming from.
My wild ass guess is the sensor is erroneously reporting the oil is hot.
