One of my co-workers (who happens to be a good riding buddy too) went for a ride
on the GS today. He normally rides a Gixxer so this was a new experience :bliss

He started off 2-up...

Our route took us over some familiar roads. From home on up through
Portola Valley and Woodside finally arriving at Alice's. From Alice's, we decided to
continue down Hwy 84 toward Pescadero Road where we hang a left.

Nearing the beach, we have a choice. And that choice is Cloverdale Road to the left
and onward down Pescadero to the town of Pescadero (I'll take you there another
time).

Approaching our left turn, Jeremy looks pretty comfy...

Cloverdale eventually drops you onto Hwy 1 via Gazos Creek Road.

A brief stop to admire the view. Looking North toward Ano Nuevo Island (yes, it
is an island and it even has a building on it :D). If you were sailing the high seas
back in the day, you might have had a near miss with the rocks here.

Anyhow, we made it over to the Whale City Bakery in Davenport. Where
I had a slice of my favorite pie. I think it's the combination of the view, the pie and
the coffee that make this a real treat. Not that the pie isn't worth the trip...it is.

Farther down the road is Santa Cruz and a stop at the Mark Abbott Memorial
Lighthouse where the Surf Museum is. They've got all sorts of stuff from several
decades. Old redwood "plank" boards to today's modern fiberglass boards adorn
the place. If you're in the 'hood, stop on by.

The lighthouse...

What's inside...

Oh look! A wedding! A bit on the breezy side, a couple was getting ready for
their special day.

Looking North toward Dog Beach, the site of some controversy for the citizens of
Santa Cruz. This is one of the few beaches open to dogs where they don't have to
be on a leash. The site is scheduled to transfer to state control and they've pretty
much said 'no dogs allowed'.

It was getting late and we'd traveled over 130 miles during the de-n00bing.
We opted for the quick road home and hit Hwy 17 (not for the timid rider, trust
me on this).

I think it was a success. Will he buy a GS? Who knows. But one thing's for sure; it
was a great day with some great riding.

Everyone's a noob at some point I guess. It looks like a nice day of riding.

What did the SO think of the GS? I suppose that could be an influence on the decision.....

It's nice to see a member evangelizing. . . .

Nice pictures of a fun day. And Ian can always be counted on for nice photos and a cool food shot.

How 'bout today Darryl?

Would love to, but I'm writing this from a motel room in Thousand Oaks. My niece had her Bat Mitzvah yesterday and I've got an actual business meeting in downtown LA tomorrow. There's no real pie here, but I'll ride out to the Rock Store today...
