I recently purchased a 1976 R100/7 which had spun a con rod bearing. Can anyone out there recommend a reputable machine shop that is familiar with airheads. A number of BMW shops I have talked to stated that they don't like to grind crankshafts.
Thanks!

Where are you located? If you put your location in your profile, it'll show up under your name next to your posts.

Have you tried Bob's?

Bob's was one of the shops that "didn't like to grind cranks" they refered me to a shop in Florida that does only cranks. I'm looking for a shop that will do the machine work (both crank and block) and reassemble crank, cam and new bearings/thrust bearings. I'm located in Maine.

weberhard, contact Memphis Motorwerks 901-757-1009. Talk to Leo Goff he is an expert on BMW engine rebuilds. He's totally honest, and Motorwerks has a good warrenty on all there labor charges. BG

If you don't have any luck on this forum I'd post your query to the airheads list on micapeak. It's free to join and has got thousands of airhead owners (very active). Someone there will have advice.

Go to http://www.micapeak.com/lists/AIRHEADS/FAQ to learn how to join.
